In response to the original post, if you are disappointed, phone your travel agent and tell him/her. Our friends recently took a cruise, treating their families for everything. Six cabins, land portion and airfare. They received nothing. Our friend uses the same travel agent as us and was very miffed. I suggested she phone the t/a. He was appalled his present never arrived.
Rather than harbor ill-feelings, you may want to just ask your travel agent.

Well that kinda defeats the whole idea.
It's like asking if someone forgot to get you a birthday present. If the TA didn't provide anything, I'd be uncomfortable mentioning it.
BTW Paul-I did receive a barrel of monkeys on a cruise two years ago---very messy.

I think it is rude to "expect a gift".
Just because you booked with a TA doesn't mean that he or she is required to send you a gift.
With all the problems TAs had at the end of last year and beginning of this year - I wouldn't expect anything. Some TAs are struggling to survive after 9-11.

Casey, get a grip. We've seen from multiple threads on this site that people have two essential questions: What's the most I can get, and what's the least I can pay. You get what you pay for isn't part of it -- and for all those who believe that discounts grow on trees, have a cup of coffee.

Well Sara, I get good prices without discounting because I know where to look. Again, I don't know how the people south of the border do it, but here we have a few cruise wholesalers which buy huge bulk space from the cruise lines. These cruise consuladators put their fares into Canadian (very important) and I get good deals. I don't need to discount, because the clients that I attract are getting great service, and heck, I am worth it. There are some discount agencies around, but they do nothing in the way of extra service. When Canada 3000 airlines went bankrupt in November (they were the 2nd largest airline in Canada and also had a large vacation company) our agency refunded our clients everything, including insurance or rebooked our clients on an alternative vacation, whichever suited the clients needs. The discount agencies were saying too bad so sad, figure it out yourself. We actually picked up a lot of thier business because clients heard we were treating our clients so well. Basically you get what you pay for. If everything goes hunky dory, then you will never notice what you are missing with a discount agent, but when big problems arise, and trust me some day they will, then you will wish you paid more for a reputable company that takes pride in what they are doing, and knows they are worth the extra $20 or $30 you might pay.

I mean that they basically get a good enough fare in US from the Cruise lines, that the exchange won't affect the price. They usually get the rates in July or Auguest and put them in a set Canadian rate at that time. Since that time the rate has gone from 1.56 to 1.62, but our wholesalers rates remain the same. Also because the wholesalers buy in bulk they just get us really good rates for our clients
