Altun Ha and Baboon Sanctuary in Belize

My family and friends were on the Legend cruise of the Western Caribbean. The Belize Port was the most interesting. It was 13 of us in our group and were interested in doing a private tour of ALTUN HA MAYA RUINS, BABOON SANCTUARY, AND CITY TOUR. We booked the tour through Don of Action Boys Belize . We were instructed by Don to meet him at the exit of terminal # one , and he was there waiting. I loved the way he introduced himself. It was perfect English. Before we boarded the van he explained the day's activities and asked if there is any thing we would like to change or add to the day's activities. We were all ready to have a great time . We boarded the Van and went on our way. Don was narating the history as he drove the van through the city. The drive to Altun ha was an hour. the road was not bad . When we got to the site we had a short restroom break and head on to the site. Don was very good with the history of the site. He also added presentations on medicinal plants. After Altun Ha we head on our way to the sanctuary and made a stop for lunch. The lady who prepared our lunch was Judith. I don't know what she did to that RICE AND BEANS, but it tasted so Good.after lunch we continued to the sanctuary and there Don introduced us to Shane. Shane is with the Action Boys Team. He took us through the trail in search of the Howler Monkeys. He explained every thing to us . he was also very good.I need to say that the Belize port was the best of all th port. We had a great time.

Our time was well managed. We also had a great time. Highly recommended

Glad you enjoyed your time in our country. Just wanted to note that Shane is not affiliated with the Baboon Sanctuary. He was trained as a guide by the CBS management and then left and started a business on his own. He operates inside the Sanctuary but does not contribute to any of the work being done by the Sanctuary since 1985. We're sorry that your guide did not take you to the official Visitor's Centre in the village.
Please note that many tours offer trips to the Baboon Sanctuary but do not take you to the official starting point. This is something that we have been dealing with for a few years now. For more information you can visit the official Community Baboon Sanctuary for more information.

Shane did a great job and that was all we wanted. The problem that exists between Shane and the other party has nothing to do with me expressing the great time we had in your country.

I can only do my recommendations based on my experiences - And I highly recommend this tour.

That's fine, I have no problem with that Like I said I'm glad you enjoyed your time in our country but I have to point out that by you saying the Baboon Sanctuary, it can be misleading to other people who wants to visit the "Sanctuary". You visited Bermudian Landing and got to see some monkeys. I'm sorry that you think the Community Baboon Sanctuary is just the "other party" The work being carried out since 1985 has been severely affected by tour companies using the name and not supporting the actual sanctuary. Just wanted to point that out to future visitors. Thanks
