ALASKAN CRUISE

My wife and I are looking to take an ALASKAN CRUISE for our 40th Anniversary. Our Anniv. is in April
Of 2018. But we are looking at going in mid to late July.
Would live recommendations for cruise Lines and ports.
We have done 2 Western Carib. Cruises in the past.
Room recommendations.....balconies
Etc.

Any ideas greatly appreciated

First recommendation is to book a balcony cabin so that you can see the scenery without the crowds on the open decks. Make sure your cruise itinerary includes Glacier Bay - absolutely spectacular, as not every cruise line does this. We enjoyed the White Pass-Yukon train ride at Skagway - book with the ship as you can board the train at the dock.
We've done two Alaskan cruises, both with Princess, and also took their optional coach tour from Whittier to Fairbanks.

Princess and HAL are the legacy cruise lines - they each have standing permission to visit Glacier Bay.

The other cruise lines have to take turns.

I agree with the advice to book a balcony - aft cabins are our choice.

If you have the time, you might consider HAL from Vancouver to Seward followed by a Princess land/sea tour from Anchorage to Vancouver.

Ships from Vancouver take the Inside Passage between Vancouver Island and the Mainland. Ships out of Seattle go out into the ocean west of Vancouver Island before turning toward the coast.

Enjoy your visit.

Thanks for the info.
We booked with Princess aboard the Star Princess. Leaving from Vancouver
Going to Whittier. From 7/21 to 7/28/18.
Stops at Ketchikan...Juneau...Skagway
Then Glacier Bay & College Fjord.
We did book a room with a balcony on the Aloha deck.
Thanks again for responding.

We went To Alaska in the middle of July nice time to go not too hot but not too cold either.

The best time is Late July and not after Sept 10 as it is very cold there, the weather changes from cool to cold fast.

We went for hubbys 50th and our kids gave it to him for his b day.. we went last year nice but a bit cool.. we did see some bears and lots of sea life animals.. you will enjoy this with the Vancouver connection then you can go have High Tea at the Embassy Hotel very nice a bit pricy but good anyways. You may even get lucky. I really liked this cruise I went with Norwegian, My kids did it on carnival did not like it but who knows.. you may like it too.
