Alaska cruise in August

We are thinking of doing a family cruise in mid-August this year. We have been told that June/July is the ideal time because the weather in August can be too problematic. Any comments?

Also, we would appreciate any comments on recommended cruise lines and passages to tour. Many thanks.

Hi Ed,

I have sailed in all months in Alaska and I did not see any difference in the weather. The lower parts of Alaska does get more rain than the upper. Best to take a one way Northbound or Southbound and not the Inside Passage round trip cruises.

Paul

Hi, my family (grandparents, us, and 7,5,and 2 yr old are cruising Aug 23 northbound on Carnival. After much research I dont think weather is that much different than a month earlier. Im doing Carnival because we want a laid back fun cruise AND the kids program accepts 2 year olds.
Join us...or not! if you dont want to be around young kids :-)

We went last yr. in the 3rd week of August. No problems really. It was a bit rainy but no cold really. :-)
