ALASKA CRUISE: Haines or Skagway?

We're choosing between two identical cruises. One stops in Haines, the other in Skagway. If I have to choose, should I visit Haines or Skagway?
Thanks!!

We loved Skagway---rode the White Pass & Yukon RR, took the Park Service guided walking tour, visited a couple of small, but interesting museums, walked the main street and did a little shopping.

That's very helpful. I'll keep your reply as notes for planning our visit.
Thank you so much!!

There is more in Skagway, but both places worthwhile. Request visitor guides and do your homework. :) Take a look at shore excursion lists and determine your touring priority, then perhaps choose between the two.

I did a cruise that stopped in Skaygay with an optional trip to Haines. I must say I loved Haines and look forward to visitng again some day. Did an eagle and wildlife viewing/walk excursion, one of my favorite days of the cruise, and the scenery from where our tour stopped was amazing. Everyone seems to rave about the White Pass Railway, but I am so glad we chose Haines instead. Did walk around the small town of Skagway, had a nice time:)
