Alaska cruise bargains - timing

We plan on an Alaska cruise in August 2004. I've read on this board that best prices are available within 90 days of sailing. We're very flexible on the date we leave but want (need) a balcony cabin or larger. Are bargains for these cabins generally available within 90 days of sailing?
Thanks

No, if you have to have a balcony- book it now. The bargains are clearly for inside cabins.

Alaska is extremely popular and most will sell out. Book with an Agency that will lower your rate should it reduce later, but I would book now just to get a cabin.

Actually Alaska has been in over supply the last several years- especially in the shoulder and fringe season. If you are FLEXABLE- bargains can be had. I would start looking 90 days ahead. Consider www.cruisemates.com bargain finder site. I used them last season got a 9-1 Sun sailing for $475.

Bargians are to be had for last minute on the ships. The only problem might be air, dining times and hotels,pre- & post.

Last minute for me is usually 30-60 days ahead and air is still available, but may require more digging. As mentioned- you have to be flexable. :)
