Alaska black flies

I'm planning another cruise to Alaska, this time mid-June. Going on the Glacier Passage. Does anyone know if I'll encounter black flies at this time of year? How about mosquitos? And I'd appreciate any ideas of things to see and do in Sitka.

Thanks Charlie. I'll check that site out. I'm not really worried, as I'm originally from upstate NY - where black flies are famous.

Hi Dawn,

I have sailed Alaska 5 times June, July, August and September and never saw a black fly. I know what they look like since I live in CT.

Possibly it depends on where you are sightseeing.

Paul

Thanks to you, too, Paul. I won't worry about the little bugs, but just go and enjoy myself. As usual. Any ideas on Sitka? I enjoy roaming by myself, seeing unusual sites, and easy hikes.
