Alaska - Absolute stern of ship okay?

My travel agent is offering me a cabin with a huge terrace at the absolute stern of the Celebrity Summit in July. The price is right but is the cabin view good?

I understand that the ship's PA announcer will call out sightings of whales, bear, eagles, etc. Am I likely to miss these sightings because I am looking straight out at the back of the ship? Or, as she tells me, will I get a better view because I can see both sides.

My concern is that if these views were so good, why are they still available? Maybe I'll be able to see both sides equally badly.

I sailed on her sister ship - the Millennium and had an aft cabin - I think it was number 8176.

The balcony is fantastic and the view is wonderful - you can see out the back and on both sides. Our balcony was 10 x 20'. It was a handicapped cabin which has a little wider balcony but yours will also be huge.

Consider yourself lucky to get this cabin - you will not regret it.

The cabin is still available because not many TAs know that these aft cabins have a huge balcony. They are the same category as side cabins which have a very small balcony.

Trust me - you will love the cabin. Email me if you have questions.

Marsha -

You may hear from others that the aft vibrates more then other cabins. In once sense it is true but don't let this stop you.

You will feel a "huge" vibration when you first take off. It lasts about 5 minutes and then it is over. The rest of the time it is fine.

Enjoy.
