What to do on Windstar

We are currently planning our next holiday and have been tempted by stories we have heard about Windstars ships and service. However, we aren't that into sitting in a bar all night, as we are not big drinkers.

Typically is there any entertainment each night on this lines ships or is it only bar or casino? We read that "sometimes" they have local entertainers come on board either in the Caribbean or Med but this sounds random and you might not see anything on a week's cruise.

Is Seabourn the same? (As well as the other small ship lines?)

We did a number of Windstar cruises several years ago. We found that most people were up early, busy all day out at the beaches, walking towns, etc. and were tired enough by the end of the day to relax, eat dinner, and go to bed. Entertainment was not required. Occasionally there was some music or a group came onboard, but if you want nightlife, I suggest a different type of cruise. We found most passengers were busy, active, "ourdoorsy" people not requiring much after dinner. Seabourn is an entirely different type of cruise. You sound like you really don't know what you want from your cruise experience yet. I suggest that before you book something that you really decide what you are looking for and then book accordingly. You will be much happier in the end.

Thanks for the input Charli, but we do know what we want, just not sure what's on offer from the various cruise lines. The best way to find out is to ask on somewhere like this forum.

We too will be up fairly early and taking full advantage of what a port or day has to offer, but we do enjoy to have something more in the evening than dinner and straight to bed.

Anybody else been on any of these ships to give an insight?

At www.cruisecritic.com, there is a message board devoted to Windstar cruises. Maybe you could get more information there.

Windstar ships do not have faility for stage shows. People don't cruise Windstars for their entertainment. The entertainment came from a "lounge band", and the casino is very small.

Charli is right in saying that you should figure out what you want from a ship. Windstars is for relaxation and pampering service.

You mentioend that you know what you want. Maybe if you share that information, others may suggest what might be a good fit?
