ACCEPTING HELP/TIPS.

It bugs the heck out of me when people go out of their way to give hints to other cruisers and the same person asks the same stupid/dumb questions time after time.. If it weren't for people on this board I would not have the wonderful experiences on our cruises that we do..Especially, Percy and Gail..who have been so helpful.. Don't think I'm being corny, but i honestly believe I should help others in return.... Frustrated..but this guy can bang his head against the wall as the saying goes...I hope nobody realizes he just wants to talk to himself..not go where there is help for his exact cruise.

I feel that frustration. How about all those who ask for advice, gets alot of it and never come back to the thread, even to say thanks.

Percy: "keeping an eye on me...." Just like interpol. .
T69: Thank you. Our niece is getting married. Weddings in Nidia are lavish affairs that often start 3 days B4 the actual ceremony. Not sure if I'm up for that but I'll try. The main thing is the weather however.. Temps in that part (Ajmer, Rajasthan) can be hot, esp. in the summer. Oct. temps range for 85-100F so hopefully as it will belate OCt. it'll be milder. 1710 S. Palmer Proverbs 351: It is better to give than to receive.

When I offer any helps or tips, I expect nothing in return.

I am paying forward in the hope that when I ask my questions, I receive support and help in return, which I have been.

ParrotMom ...have a great time on your cruise.

I read many of your post with great interest!
Keep up the good work.

jacketwatch.......

your right it can get hot in India. Hopefully by October it might be a little cooler.

That is what I thought when I went to Egypt to do the Nile cruise.
I went in October , and it was 109 F in Luxor and Aswan !!!

Hi traveller69........ nice to hear from you .
I have to have more hand surgery.
This time Carpal Tunnel to the same hand I had the Dupuytren's surgery last year.

Also Dupuytrens has come to the other hand now ..so maybe surgery again soon.

How lucky ,can one guy get. !

Eschew:
Yep , it is better to give than to recieve, but I think when someone asks a question about a trip to a certain location and then 10 to 15 people answer the request, it is nice for that person to just acknowledge , ONE of the people .

That way we know that he/she has received the information and that at least one of the points of view were helpful...then
we

all learn a little .

I recall reading a post where a person asked about an African Safari.....she received about 45 replies...

I never heard from the person on that thread again.. so I do not know if she went or not , or what tour company she went with...or what her trip was like.

Now I do not expect her to answer to 45 people...but ONE would have been nice

No !! I was not one of the 45 people that answered her , but I was following the thread.

Take Care everyone !!!

Hi jacketwatch:

Well it is usually hotter in Luxor and Aswan than in Cairo or Alexandria.

I was in Alexandria , right by the Mediterranean Sea.... nice place , but I think the weather was about 85 F that day.

Anybody who goes to Egypt to do the Nile Cruise, should also go to Alexandria.

I recall Aswan very clearly , right after breakfast,we went outside....... I look at my wristwatch and it is 8:20 AM
AND it was already 92 F!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and this was October !

It was a Scorcher !!

So I hope it is cooler for you in India, because it really is not pleasant having to otur around when it is 109 F outside !!

About the hand ....... what can I say... it takes a long time to recover from hand surgery.

Right now as I am typing my fingertips are tingling due to the compression on the Median Nerve , which runs under the Carpal Ligament in the wrist area.

Poor me

Thanks - but truly you have offered more advice to me and others than you could possibly have received in return. I still remember you making suggestions for our Bermuda cruise some years ago - one of our best trips.

Percy - agree about Nile Cruise, although we missed Alexandria. We were in Egypt in 2001 in early April and it is still the benchmark for heat in my experience - never been to India, though.

And as a rehab RN, make sure you get some advice from an occupational therapist with a specialty in hand therapy (who knew there was such a thing). They can give you both advice for exercises appropriate for nature of your surgery and suggestions on adaptive ways to get things done with a hand that likely feels more like a paw than a hand.

Hi gail:

Yes, I went Alexandria because I did not want to be that close (Cairo) and not see this historic place.

I had physio to my right hand last year after the Dupuytren's surgery.

We have a Hand Therapy department at one of out local hospitals.... they made me a splint that I had to wear ( at night) for almost 6 months !!!!.

One of the complications of doing hand physio for the Dupuytren's Contracture surgery is getting

Carpal Tunnel..... yep, got Carpal Tunnel that never got much better since last year.

When I went on the African Safari last year.... I almost did not go because of the Carpal Tunnel pain.

But I decided to go anway...Good move, the Carpal Tunnel symptoms got 50 % better in Kenya, Tanzania and Zanzibar.

When I got home ...it was back to square one !

It is the darn Dupuytren's Contracture that I now have on the Left hand.. that is a concern.

The Plastic Surgeon ( my good personal friend) will just do the Carpal Tunnel via the Scope method.... to release the pressure !

Actually the Plastic Surgeon had Both of his wrist done a couple of years ago ..for Carpal Tunnel. !!

Your right , your hand never seems to feels the same after hand surgery.

Thank you very much for your advice and concern.

Take Care

Percy, we will be in Alexandria this October. Thanks for the hot weather tip. We will be at the Luxor as well ... 109 ... hmm .. DW will melt from the heat ... would they object to female tourist wearing shorts etc?

If the OP did not reply, I will assume the following, and not necessary in that order. Computer died. Trip cancelled. Or worst case scenario, get hit by a bus and can't reply. Not eveyrone has gone to finishing school and learned proper manner.

Last but not least, don't ever lose faith in humanity. Here is a recent post as if it is right on cue.

Talk about hot.. and I mean hot. and humid. try Devil's Islands.. now I know why those poor people died on that island..now inhabited by wild roosters, strange looking animals that look like oversized rats, birds and monkeys..although the last two you could't prove by me..lol

Eschew:

Have a great time in Egypt.

Let's hope you do not get 109 F in Luxor... 106 F is good enough

Thanks Percy, the hottest I have ever encountered was August in Vegas. It was 108 so I knew what it would feel like. Not pleasant at all, but at least now I can prepare for it: a thermos of ice cold water and a face cloth.

This will be our first trip to the middle east and it has been a while since we were in Europe. DW is looking forward to it.

Eschew

I know what you mean about the heat.

I was in Vegas and it was 120 F..I even took pictures of the huge Thermometer Billboard that read "120" !!

as fas as I know the hottest temperature ever recorded in the USA was about 135 ..can you imagine try to breath in that heat.

( If I an recalling correctly , I think in Phoenix Arizona it was very hot for 2-3 weeks, like 115 F...and they made T- shirts stating " I survived the heat wave in Phoenix"...

maybe someone from Arizona can add more clarity to this .)

No kidding a coooool face cloth at the back of your neck when in Valley of the Kings would be like heaven ..if it is 100 F and over.

They may said " Oh it's dry heat"...dry or moist your frying!!!!

Good Luck Take care , say hi to Ramsy and King Tut for me
