A Unique Experience
My husband and I just returned from Alaska on Holland America. The best part of our whole trip was the dogsledding in Skagway. If you are animal lovers and do not want to trek out into the interior of Alaska in the snow, this is the thrill of a lifetime.<BR>The place is called Alaska Sled Dog Adventures, (alaskasleddog.com) The guy that runs it is a Canadian who competes in the Quest Race. That's more authentic than even the Idatarod. Anyway, they pick you up at the dock and drive you to Dyiad, the trip is scenic and the guide informative. Pierre, had made a road up this mountain for the dogs to run for the summer months and then in the winter he takes them back to Canada. He has made a 6 man "sled" w/wheels, that the dogs pull up and down the mountain. It's very steep and somewhat scary, but thrilling at the same time. You are actually on a ride w/Alaskan huskies that are pulling you. 14 of them! It's about 80.00 per person, but worth every penny. You get to talk w/Pierre and see his trips in pictures. And if you go soon, you will see the 3 puppies he has now, which are awesome! You get to hold then and pet them and take pictures! I was just thrilled! If you need any further info, please write to me.
