A reservation question

I was looking at the Princess website, but didn't like the cabin choice, looks like the best locations are sold out.

Asked 2 travel agents, they came back with the same cabin choice.

I hoped different agencies have different cabins to offer - is this a naiive hope?

Looks like I'm too late for an August cruise :( So disappointed!

Unless an agency has group space blocked, which requires deposits, they have the exact same inventory to offer. You will in general be offered the best of the cabins available in your chosen category.

I don't know what type or date specifically you are looking for..but I noticed Cruise Value Center has inside cat I available for the second week in Aug..Aloha deck, mid-ship. I didn't check for any ocean views.

Thank you, Kfusto, this is what I've figured out :(

Katy, I don't want to go as high as Aloha, I've seen those, thank you.

Keep checking available cabins. When the usually "60 day cancel and get all your money back" happens, some cabins may become avaialble. People do cancel before then so just keep checking!

One of the agents told me: we all share the same database.

Bonnie, thank you, I'll keep checking. It's good I won't need a plane ticket - live where the cruise starts - one less problem to deal with!

You might consider putting in a request on CruiseCompete.com. It's a good way to find out if anyone is holding group space (and you'll probably save some money anyway).

Faina, I was really upset not to get a cabin I wanted for Feb....then I went to www.cruisecritic and asked if anyone had a cabin. Turns out, some people get a block for family and friends and often will let you have one. I managed to get a great cabin and get an upgrade!

FainaAgain Feb 23rd, 2007 12:02 PM

How do I go about asking for a cabin? Make a list of desirable cabins/decks and ask if anybody has them?

LLindaC Feb 23rd, 2007 12:31 PM

I answered one of the "Roll calls" on my particular ship and put a thread on there about only finding an inside cabin. That's when a gal came forward and told me she had a block of cabins. Anyway, it's worth a try! I've also used cruisecompete with a lot of luck. BTW...any chance of cruising in Sept instead of August? Usually, the price goew way down.

FainaAgain Feb 23rd, 2007 02:44 PM

No, Linda, only August or October.

I'll keep trying, I don't like to give up easily :)

Well I spoke to a Princess agent last week who told me that there are many cancellations around the time the final payment is due so for our June cruise our final is due 3/14. So perhaps you should check back say the first 2 weeks in May for an August sailing. Good luck. :-)

FainaAgain Feb 23rd, 2007 03:37 PM

Thank you, Jacket! I will call Princess, and right now I'm waiting for a local agent to call me back.

Gotta start a thread "put Faina on a cruise" :))

Hey, I can call and ask if they have a waitlist! Will do.

Cool! I hope it works for you.
