We'll be cruising in the Caribbean. I sent my son a list of ports so he could tell me what souvenirs to bring. Below is his reply.

Puerto Rico = Don Q Anejo
British Virgin Islands = Pusser's
Antilles = no rum :(
St. Kitts = they make rum but I don't like it
Guadalupe = Rhum
Barbados = Mount Gay Rum

Don't need to carry them all back from the Caribbean and risk broken bottles or spillage. Just buy them at the local store unpon your return. He'll never know the difference. :D

Eschew, this is what I thought! Most of them we have in our local BevMo. For a few dollars of savings (if any!) too much trouble of packing and checking in.

You are allowed only so many bottles duty free (one?) and you have to pay duty for the rest of them. Unless you find one that is not available locally ...

Here is another suggestion. Pick up some empties, bring them home and told him that you were thirsty on the way home and drank them all :D

Or, buy the sample pack from the ship (or souvenir shop?) where the sample size is mini bar size (1 oz?) :)

Hmmm. Some yrs. ago I brought back three bottle of aged, single barrel rum and I gotta say they were all very nice. Had Mt. Gay from Barbados, a brand from St. Thomas and De Paz from Martinique. Good stuff all of them.

BTW if you can and if you dare try to bring or more aptly "smuggle" a 7 yr. old Havana Club rum. I had it tonight in Madrid and its the best, smoothest I've ever had.

My favorite and available (I think) only in the Caribbean is Cavalier Rum from Antiqua.

For the best buzz, get Barcardi 151 overproof light amber in Puerto Rico. You cna always buy them locally (US) for $20.
