Xmas Weather - Bahamas - What to Expect???

we're headed to Paradise Island Bahamas for Christmas vacation and are wondering what we should expect weather-wise. Are the hotel swimming pools usable in late December, early January -- or is the water too cold? What about swimming and snorkelling in the ocean ?? We'll be at the Atlantis, which has a lot of outdoor recreational facilities -- just wondering if we'll be able to take advantage of them!

Rene: My wife and I were in Nassau last December and it was OK. Not hot, but comfortable. The weather each day was partly cloudy and it rained one day. Temps were about 73-77F during the day and about 62-67 in the evening so we took light jackets with us at night. The water was around 70 and we did go swimming, but the pool was about 65, so we did the ocean only. You can check five day forcasts on the web up until your departure to get an idea of what to expect. Good luck and have fun!

Last Christmas I was on Grand Bahama Island. With the exception of one day of rain, the weather was just beautiful. The days were warm, 75-79 and the evenings you could use a light jacket. The pools are in use, and the ocean water is quite cool compared to the temps in the summer. Nassau is usually several degrees warmer than Freeport. It is a pleasant get away for early winter. Even though the temps are lower don't forget your sun screen. The evenings and nights are cool enough that you probably will not even use the AC. Have Merry Christmas and a Happy 1998.
