Xmas options for group of 11
I'm leading the research on a vacation spot for 9 adults and 2 kids (under 6) over the Xmas 2003 holiday. Places like Caneel Bay in St. John seem ideal but they all seem to be booked already. We'd consider villas as an option if that's all that's available but want to be sure we have access to golf, tennis, babysitting and watersports. Any suggestions? We're leaning more moderate to upscale price-wise...

Try Providenciales in the Turks & Caicos. Jet service (1 1/2 hours) from Miami. There is golf on the island and Grace bay Beach (12 miles) is gorgeous. We stayed at Point Grace last year in a 2 bedroom unit (very luxurious, very upscale and very pricy). Other choices would be The Ocean Club or Coral Gardens or White Sands (?) All have 1-3 bedroom units on the beach w/restuarants, bar, pools. Very relaxing. Good places to eat on the island and a great supermarket to stock up to eat on your own deck.

does Point Grace accept children under 6 for Christmas?

I don't see why not. Call and ask. There were many young kids there last yewar at spring break. The tourist business is down, I would expect any of the reosrts to welcome you with open arms.

How about renting a luxury villa? Most have their own pools and a lot of them have agreements with nearby resorts to use facilities. I know Round Hill in Jamaica rents houses as part of the resort. Ditto with Half Moon.

Point Grace does not allow children under 10 at Xmas, New Years and Easter.
They also have a 10 day minimum stay.
Tourist business is still holding up in most of the caribbean.
With your kids, you might want to look into Buccanneer on St. Croix for the holidays.
