Will we be sorry visiting Grand Caymand in late September or late October?

I know this is a silly question, because no one can predict a hurricane.

I says 10" of rain in September and October.

Does this come in sporadic rainfalls, or is it constant?

Also, what is the chance of a hurricane?

I hear alot of people say that it is not very probable.

Any thoughts or opinions on this would be GREATLY appreciate.

Thanks so much.

Stopped in Grand Cayman in October for a cruise and it was warm and sunny.

beachcouple -
You are definitely taking a risk going to the Cayman Islands in September or October. And if you need to leave early because of a hurricane...the cost will be on YOU.

As long as you know the risks involved in going to the Caribbean during hurricane season, you should be OK. Be prepared to have to leave the island if anything looks like it may be headed that way.
The price to travel to the Caribbean in the Fall is cheaper because of this, and we have always found it to be worth the risk. With the peak season being Aug and Sept, late October would be a safer choice. I think the showers that do pop up usually clear up pretty fast.
Also you may want to consider travel insurance. Some (like travelguard) will cover trip cancellations or changes due to hurricanes. Bottom line, you just have to decide if its worth the risk. My opinion would be that it is.

I've gone at the end of October for many years (for Pirates Week). Out of probably 10-12 years, I've had one near miss by a hurricane (about 200 miles from Cayman) and another time with several rainy days. You take a chance but weather is never predictable. And yes, I'll be there again this year for Pirates Week and hoping for the best.
