Why don't I hear of anyone going to Puerto Rico?

It seems as if Puerto Rico would be a popular Caribbean destination -- large enough to have a strong culture outside the tourist world and to have a variety of activities and sights-- but I rarely hear of people traveling there. Are there disadvantages compared to other Caribbean destinations that we should know about before we plan a trip? Or, more positively, who has had a good trip there? Any particular recommendations outside San Juan?

Your kidding me, right? On an average day there are probably 3 posts regarding Puerto Rico. I recommend you do a search.

To soaring hawk: What the heck are you thinking? LOL! Agree with Deb-lots of PR posts here including many by me. I love the place.

Perhaps the confusion is because everybody ALWAYS refers to Puerto Rico as "PR" - took me a while to catch on.... So don't look for Puerto Rico, look for PR!

Guilty of being a novice at this...I'd scrolled through ALL the Caribbean posts, and had seen mostly very specifics about particular hotels, etc. I was thinking mainly of off-net talking with people, hearing a lot about smaller islands but not PR. I have now read the first 150 posts on PR and have some helpful information. Thanks.
