Which part of Dominican Republic to Stay?

My husband and I are thinking about going to the Dominican Republic. I was wondering which part of the Dominican I should stay in. We love the beach, shopping, nice resorts, restaurants, and bars. Which part of the Dominican has all this to offer? Any help would be great. Thanks.

Hi: We went to the Occidental Grand Flamenco on Bavaro Beach, Punta Cana. This is truly one of the most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean. There are all kinds of all inclusive to stay at from smaller to very large like the Occidental. Three star to 5 star like the Paridisus. The Bavaro Plaza was only a five minute walk from the resort. Since most of the resorts are all inclusive and have all la carte dining and plenty of bars you will not need to go to outside restaurants ect. We also visited the Bayhibe area which was nice but even more isolated. For a beautiful relaxing beach vacation Punta Cana is a true bargain. Karen

Highly recommend you check out the most definitive site for the D.R. www.debbiesdominicantravel.com. Has reviews on all the resorts. That said we just were at Sunscape in Punta Cana and I can't stop raving about this resort. This was our 8th time to the D.R. and one of the best experiences, would go back in a heart beat. You can write me for my review and info

I'd go with La Romana...we stayed there Casa del Mar) as well as in Punta Cana(Barcelo Bavaro Beach Resort). Though the beaches in Punta Cana are by far much nicer, La Romana had much more to offer.

We have been to Casa del Mar twice (loved it the first time, disappointed the second)...it is now under the Sunscape umbrella and from all the recent reviews we will be going back. Yes, there are more things to do outside the resort like going to La Romana and Altas de Chavon. It is a smaller type resort compared to others and has that lovely white sand beach and very warm calm water..Check out Debbies Dominican for the latest and smashing reviews.
