Hi Kara. Islands we did not like included St. Thomas (did not feel welcome at all) and St. Martin (very built up.) As for critics of the Bahamas, I would disagree. One of our best vacations ever was on Cat Island. We are planning a holiday on Crooked Island for next year. Good luck in your search. Oh yeah ... we loved our 10-day stay in Anegada!

Agreed about Bahamas diversity -- I specifically said I do not care for Grand Bahama Island. I hear the out islands are great. <BR><BR>And "SXmpatrol," back off. I offered my opinion; you can take it or leave it. Oh, and how about L'Alabama? Very overrated. Food was cold upon arrival and my wife's order was wrong. If you want a few more restaurant names for the List of Mediocre, just ask.

Lalabama was an extremely mediocre meal.<BR>Le cottage was also medicocre or worse.<BR>I dont go to sxm for just the food.

Hang on this thread long enough & most every island will eventually show up - lol! I must be one of the few people who did not encounter rudeness in nassau. i would not return, simply because the snorkeling is so-so & there is not enough there to interest me for a second trip. It might help if you stated what you were & were not looking for... do you want peace & quiet, casinos, diving...?

St. Martin was okay although the shopping is great. I liked Anguilla and also St. Barths. I agree with other posters, you may not like what I like. Anguilla had beautiful beaches in my opinion. It can be hard deciding what island to go to. Good luck on your planning.

I would never return to Aruba. Too commercialized, touristy and mediocre beaches and restaurants. We stayed at the Hyatt Regency and I was not impressed at all.<BR>It was too congested overall and I cringe when I see McDonald's all over an island. Yuck.

I would definitely have to say the top islands to avoid are: Wildwood, New Jersey... Greenland... Fantasy Island... Gilligan's Island... Coney Island... oh, and Monster Island
