Which Island would be the best for a toddler
We are planning a trip for the coming winter, and I was thinking about taking a cruise, but we have changed our minds and would like to visit one Island instead.
I am wondering which of the Caribbean Islands would be best for a 4 year old. I was leaning towards St. Maarten or Puerto Rico, but I've been looking more from an adults point of view. A beach with calm water is the most important thing for us. And I like to be in an area with lots of things to do, but not crazy busy either. Some advice would be really appreciated. |
St. John is pristine safe fun beautiful beaches
great for kids.... The Westin betterbidding.com from $80/nt nice there Maho.org nice too Cheap flights down first class for the price of coach from FLL on spirit.com For a much shorter flight consider atlantis.com runawayhill.com in the Bahamas beautiful safe lots to see and do. Happy Planning, |
I'm a big fan of the Bahamas and if you are looking for nice calm beaches nassau at atlantis is good but nassau is also crazy busy. Grand Bahama island would be the best place to go because the beaches are just as nice and there is plenty to do without the island being crazy busy

For 4 year olds and families, I find the beaches of Turks and Caicos to be phenomenal. The water is usually flat and calm, crystal clear, sandy with no rocks-a child's dream! throw in Sapadilla Bay, that's chin high water for hundreds of yards and children are giddy! There will be plenty of other kids to meet and play with, and the restaurants are excellent. The resorts are condos, so full fridges to keep kids happy. There's an excellent kid's club at Veranda that even outsiders can use, for $40 all day including food, kids do crafts, scavenger hunts, even beach time. Happy!
Added bonus, big airplanes with easy connections and upscale accomodations. No pesky venders on the beach, so truly relaxing. Most resorts have tons of beach toys to borrow, and Coral Gardens reef starts in knee high water, great intro to snorkeling for little ones. Boat excursions are fun for them too-water usually calm. PS, great for the grown ups too! ;-) |
Turks and Caicos is a beautiful place to visit but as far as a lot of activities to do all the time there is virtually nothing to do. Turks and Caicos is more a place to go to when you just wanna get away from things and relax if you are looking to keep a 4 year old entertained this is probably not the best place
