Which Island

Am thinking about going somewhere in the Caribbean in Nov. or Dec. - 2 couples - 50's; any suggestions as to favorite island, etc. Been to Bahamas years ago, so would want somewhere different. All help appreciated. Thanks.
Jean: What type of holiday are you looking for? Relaxing, wild, shopping, etc...

If you want nice beaches and great shopping, I've been hearing great things about St. Martin/St. Maarten. Just a suggestion

We loved St. John, USVI. Has a little bit of everything. Very lush, beautiful beaches. Nice shopping and some very good restaurants. We rented a villa and loved it.

Al

I went to St. Thomas last year and then took the ferry over to St. John. both are nice, but St. John is a bit more relaxed and laid back.

We're in the same age group and for the last few years we have been traveling to Antigua in mid-December to stay at the Sandals Resort. Sandals has a beautiful property with several pools, restaurants etc. We usually get the non-concierge level room by one of the pools.
Sandals will take you to the Sunday event (fee) at Shirley Heights to see the sun set over the ocean and mountains with live steel band music, barbecue and drinks.
We hired a driver to take us around the island and stop where we wanted--Devil's Bridge, a sugar mill--few beaches--Nelson's Dockyard, English Harbor to see the yachts etc.
There are all types of sailing excursions available including an all day sail to Barbuda.
Also you might like St. Martin on the French side--we stay at Esmeralda Resort and drive to the many outstanding restaurants in Grand Case or Marigot at night--Le Pressoir is great. There are at least six beach bars on Orient Beach to go to for lunch. A smaller less expensive property is the L'Hoste Hotel also on Orient Beach.

If you're looking for laid back all nature try Dominica. If you're looking for tourist crowded and lots of shopping try St. Thomas or St. Martin. St. Thomas is American so it's easier to get to.
