Which is better? Anguilla-St.Martin or St.Barths

Im planning on going to St.Martin for a week and a half in January. Can anyone tell me a little about St.Martin-St.Barths and Anguilla? Which of these islands would be better? My priorities are beautiful beaches-safety and cleanliness. thanks

Jeremy Sep 8th, 2001 11:49 AM

Never been to either, going to st. martin.Go to gobeach.com, and the freindly island forum <BR>Or the traveltalkonline one. <BR>They will answer anything about those. <BR>Here they will tell you ur gonna get raped and murdered in st. martin and that it sucks. I know that anguilla and st. barts have EXTREMELY expensive hotels and that they are less developed then st. martin.

Barbara Sep 8th, 2001 12:14 PM

that is hard to answer because each person has different likes and dislikes. all 3 have beautiful beaches. Anguilla and St. Barth's are quiet and laid back and expensive. St. maarten is busier... lots of traffic and some crime, but basically safe ( I live there). St. maarten has fabulous beaches, absolutely amazingly good rstaurants, casinos, and night life.. and, of course, the 2 different cultures of both French and Dutch. Anguilla is very quiet, very flat, with fabulous beaches too.It is where St. maarten people go to get away from it all:-) <BR> from St. maarten you can easily take a day trip to both Anguilla or St. Barth's. St. Barth's is a beautiful little island..very French.... great beaches..caters to the rich and famous.. very charming <BR>St. maarten is a good place to base yourself. In 10 days, you can visit both Anguilla and St. Barth's too <BR>Enjoy!

<BR>Jeremy, if you have never been to these islands, why do you feel compelled to answer? Have you no control of yourself at all ? (we ALL know the answer) <BR> <BR>p.s. you still can't spell <BR> <BR>Sue, Anguillla & St. Barts are equal in safety. The locals were friendlier on Anguilla. St. Barts wasn't rude, but more high brow. Anguilla is scrubby but you won't find prettier sand or water. Shopping's better & more expensive on Barts. We enjoyed both. <BR> <BR>

All I gave her were sites that im using for st. martin info. Theres nothing wrong with that. Is this a grammer test? Who really gives a **** if I make a typo. Im glad your on the lookout though.... <BR>Stop trying to pick a fight LOSER!

LLL Sep 8th, 2001 06:17 PM

<BR>You care. In another thread you spent several posts explaining your typos.

John Sep 8th, 2001 06:18 PM

Jeremy has asked a lot of questions, makes typos, and sometimes wont let people answer the samw questions he asks, but I dont think he has done anything so wrong where people bash him. He is just having a hard time finding a place to go.

Jeremy Sep 8th, 2001 06:19 PM

I explained that even the difference between typos and stupidity.

Jeremy Sep 8th, 2001 06:23 PM

Are thse forums NOT for questions?

John Sep 8th, 2001 06:28 PM

No. <BR>The problem here is that you ask questions, just to get positive feedback on st. martin. When you ask where to go, you say, <BR>"Well, whatever, im going to st. martin" <BR> <BR>But, I do agree that there is nothing wrong with reassuring yourself you made a good choice. I think people just think that your immature, mainly due to the fact that you have sloppy typing skills and you repeat questions, as well as replying to every message you see.

Jeremy Sep 8th, 2001 06:31 PM

I agree. I'll stop asking so many questions, just to make sure st. martin is good. But that cant be the reason why people are being so rude to me? <BR>What is it xxx, and bubba, etc.....

I would definitely recommend that you stay on St. Maarten (the dutch side, people are much nicer) St. Maarten has so much to do. You have to make sure that you get to Maho bay and watch the Air France Jet take off or land, it is amazing. You can get to Saba and Anguilla by ferry, I recommend going to shoal bay in Anguilla, the sand is like powder. One other place to go to is Pinel Island. It is about 300 feet east of St. Maarten with fantastic beaches, jet skiing, and a cool restaurant right on the beach. Enjoy your stay, I have been there twice and loved it! Ps. if you want good jewelry go to Splash which is located in the Pelican beach resort or Philipsburg. Enjoy!

Barbara stated it perfectly. St. Martin is the pick if you want everything, including "action". <BR> <BR>If all you want if beautiful, safe beaches and some R&R, go to Anguilla. Yes, there are some VERY expensive places on Anguilla, but also a number of very nice reasonably-priced places, right on the most fantastic beaches. We've been 3 times over a 20-year period (the first time, there was ONE hotel on the island!), and we like it better than St. Martin. Never been to St Bart, but it looks great if you want to rent a private villa up in the hills with a swimming pool.

The atmosphere in St. Martin in my opinion was not safe. In fact I had a conversation w/ a native on a boat ride from Anguilla with regard to crime on the island of St. Martin. Everything from robbery, rape & murder! Incredible. Anguilla on the other hand is a more "primitive" atmosphere, very laid back, quiet & not as congested. Excellent restaurants, beautiful beaches and very friendly. Great R&R.

Well! it's now April. Did you go to St. Martin? Did you like it? I live in St. Thomas and my pick would have been St. Barths. Maybe it's because I love their dress code--but it is expensive. I usually always go 'off' season which has been May-Nov.

kris Apr 19th, 2002 11:18 AM

Can you expand on "dress code"? <BR>Thanks-<BR>Are you just talking about the chic yet laid back style?<BR>

Gary Apr 19th, 2002 05:52 PM

Jeremy is a blight on this board and a boil on the ass of humanity. He's never been to either island yet he always feels compelled to interject the same garbage. <BR><BR>Guess what Jeremy, I've actually spent a couple of weeks in St M/M and a week on St B, and you know what? there's no comparison. St M is a dirty mess with little redeeming value except some decent buy overpriced restaurants. St B is VERY expensive but clearly the better destination. Maybe once you've left your mom's house and actually gone somewhere you'll be fit to comment; until then, back off the stupid Puck. <BR>

Jeremy Apr 19th, 2002 06:34 PM

Moron alert.<BR>This thread was what, SEVEN MONTHS AGO.<BR>Now I have been to all 3.<BR>St. martin has nice beaches, shopping, and food, and scenery.<BR>St. barts has all of that, but had more luxury and charm. But I had more fun in SXM.<BR>Anguilla was nice but you might as well stay in sxm and take a couple day trips there. <BR>What a moron.
