Which hotel would you choose in Provo
I've reserved 3 different hotels! Yikes! We've only got 3 days and here's what we're thinking:
Day 1 = vegging out at the beach and maybe snorkeling near hotel. Day 2 = scuba diving trip for me, my husband does either snorkeling at the same time or a separate snorkel trip (or snorkel at hotel. Day 3 = Chill out at Parrot Cay (1/2 day trip if we don't stay there) or at pool & beach (and some snorkeling). Day 4 = massage in the morning and then leave (plane departs 3pm) Maybe if I post what me and my husband's taste/preferences are you could help me decide? - Quiet/peaceful - snorkeling options walkable from the resort - food nearby? (each of the resorts we booked includes breakfast) - a great beach & water in front of resort - don't care about nightlife - romantic - no noise of construction nearby (would like to hang out on balcony/terrace) - Food is necessary (not junk food, but healthy and descent) but not high on our list. - gym or workout area for husband preferred but not required - nice pool - lovely & luxurious grounds Here's what we booked: Parrot Cay, Garden view (prefer ocean view but they say these ground floor units have foliage blocking the ocean, that the second floor unit directly above looks at ocean. tho it's too expensive) $1458 total. Turks & Caicos Club, Ocean front (second floor) $1134 total The Regent Palms, Luxury room (looks like most are Ocean view, looks like garden view is extra) $1080 I'd like to say money is no object but after the hotel, its half gone. Which makes the Palms sound great since we can spend our extra money on the amenities and food But if Parrot Cay is a must-do then we'll cut back a little on food (I will go to IGA and stock up on lunches!) and we can omit the Parrot Cay day trip. Of course T&C Club is highly appealing since its guaranteed ocean front (better than ocean view!) I know this is hard to compare so I hope you experts can give your input. Thanks!! ~Michelle |
All 3 resorts are great but different in personality.
Parrot Cay is stunning, quiet, peaceful and relaxing. There is no real snorkeling around the resort, really needs to be on an excursion trip. Once you are there, food is ultra expensive, but you don't have a choice, as Parrot Cay is it's own island. (We're talking $100 lunches, $200-$300 dinners.) add massages, and you are more than doubling your budget. You can buy a meal plan, which will help on the costs. It's also hard to day trip, although not impossible. You MUST have reservations for lunch, costs $50 per person to get there, and then plus lunch. Certain times of the year, they turn you down, if they are full. If you can splurge, this would be my choice for 3 days-it's special. Palms is a "see and be seen" crowd. It's busy, and has a South Beach Miami vibe. This is not the choice for relaxing-it's a choice for "atmosphere". It takes about 20 minutes to walk down to the reef for snorkeling. The included breakfast is huge, and best on the island. Palms luxury rooms are just a luxury hotel room, can't really "stock up " at IGA for lunches and cook to save money. (I do think they have a fridge and a microwave though.) Palms is centrally located, so you can walk to numerous places. Turks and Caicos Club is like a luxury home away from home. Good chance you'll have the beach to yourself. Full gormet kitchens, with dinning tables and living rooms. Only 3 minute walk to the reef. You can schedule masages on your balcony. It's not so centrally located, so you may want to rent a car, or depend on Gecko Shuttle to get around to other restaurants, etc. There is a restaurant on sight, but if you want to go around to the many excellent restaurants in Provo, need transportation. (Grace Bay Car Rentals offers cars at $39 a day.) If really all you want to do is veg and snorkel, the Turks and Caicos Club is an excellent choice. |
E-mail me so I can respond off line. [email protected]. If you go with Turks and Caicos club you want a second floor unit for a view. Preferably an end unit.

We stay in suite 313 when we have stayed at the Turks and Caicos Club which is set out a bit (balcony is pushed out. Not an end unit. Plenty of light and privacy.

given your wish list i 3rd turks & caicos club. it's a short walk down the beach to very good snorkeling in front of coral gardens. really nice quiet part of beach. beautiful resort.
restaurants are spread out over a lot of the island so no one place is near to them all. some nice dining choices would be anacona (very romantic), coyaba, grace's cottage, magnolia, aqua bar and bella luna. the gecko shuttle mentioned above does stop at t&c club. here's a route map: http://www.thegecko.tc/route.htm |
