which hotel??
Has anyone been to Anquilla lately? where did you stay? Is Frangipani still under construction? I am looking at several but do not want to stay somewhere stuffy, crowded or over rated. Would like reviews on Anquilla Great house, Frangipani, Cusinart, and CJ. Thanks!

Hmmm...try typing all the properties you mentioned (individually) into the search box.
Then settle back for a lot of reading. There is a wealth of information here, but you need to do a little research and then come back with more specific questions. Marion |
Hello gottagoaway! I would stay at the MADEARIMAN BEACH CLUB on Shoal Bay East if I were you. Madeariman is a wondrerful resort,KIGHLY recommended and you will really save money there. Shoal Bay East is the best beach on Anguilla I think.

Caribedon,
I realize that your post gave a specific recommendation, which may be helpful to the OP, while my post encouraged him to do a little research. You've made many suggestions here, but most seem to be for the same places on various islands. I don't doubt your wish to help, nor your knowledge of the islands, I'd just like to have a little more personal information about your visits to the properties you recommend. First hand information is always welcome...don't you agree ? Marion |
Marion,
well put! While I wouldn't want to be seen as 'bashing' Caribedon his advice is too just basic for me. I want to know why a resort is being recommended and that the recommender/recommendee (?) has actually stayed there. When do you leave for Jamaica? |
Gottagoaway, it might help to answer your inquiry if you gave some indication of your price range. The resorts you've mentioned range in price from moderate to very expensive. Also, why those particular inns over others on Anguilla? I think that if you provide a little more information, you'll receive better guidance.

Alya,
Sometimes my frustration level is higher ;-) ! It usually has something to do with outside temperatures. I leave for Jamaica on 11/27 ! Although, if Air Jamica still had their non-stop from Boston, I'd be inclined to leave today and meet Owa at JI :-) I'm so pleased that she's enjoying herself ! Stay warm...temps will be in the 20's tonight...so readers beware ;-) ! Marion |
Marion,
I know! I try to remember how wonderful JI was but I'm distracted by the wonderful colour of the trees and the fact that I can't see my grass for the leaves on the lawn :-) JI seems so far away :-( When we were there in May Mary had a new puppy - he was sooooo cute. I hope owa has met him. |
Alya,
There has been discussion here about a girls' vacation. As I am the single *senior* can you imagine a better place than JI. We have women who have been there...Patty, Diana, you and me...and others who'd like to go, EJ and Christie and maybe Tuxedocat and we might tempt Vinceygirl with the promise of a sail :-) An *escape* to ponder, as all the women gear up for the holidays and find themselves exhausted after the *ho, ho, ho* season :-) Marion |
It's the perfect place - that's why we all went and why we all recommend it.
I found Fodors and JI due to Diana's trip report and without realising it did the same trip - Idle Awhile and then JI - thanks Diana (where is she? haven't seen her in a while) I'm only a senior if you were born in the 70/80/90's :-) sorry gottagoaway for hijacking your post :-) |
Alya,
I'm the "senior" and am trying to enjoy the privileges :-) I could tell you wonderful stories about the 40's and 50's, on a day when my memory is working :-) Marion |
Hey Marion - I can tell you stories about the 40's also, but only the last 18 months :-)
I'm enjoying my 40's, kids are growing (23,22 + 16) so freedom is on the horizon - only 2 at home now. There's a certain confidence that you get as you age, it's all about knowing that there are somethings you can't change and that life is just too short to fret about the small stuff. It also helps to marry the right man, I've got the best! |
Alya,
This thread will probably be deleted, with just cause :-) I was referring to the 1940's and the 1950's. That's just another senior observation ;-) Marion |
You guys are a breath of fresh air , Marion .... you crack me up !!! But ... , alas , you have offended .... can't I come ??!! lol , Faith . ( teasing )
|
hey Fathie,
we should have a GTG in Canada! and not invite the rest of them. Ha, and then post an amazing trip report that'll make them green with envy!!! Actually, that wouldn't work unless they hang out on the Canada Forum - Damn, back to the drawing board. :-) Marion - Age is a state of mind, I know some people, who while they are in their 40/50's, are sooooo old. You're a youngster! :-D |
Indeed !! That would do it !! lol
|
My dear, sweet Faith :-)
I often post without proof-reading,and /or editing. That's why I didn't have the job with a major newspaper I thought I deserved. Although I have a degree in Journalism, *back in the ancient days*, they were concerned with my typing skills rather than the content of my thoughts. Well, maybe they were right ;-) Don't you just love the idea of a multi-generational week where we could all share and learn...and be WARM :-) You should have been at the top of the list ! And to Brenda...will you come too ? Something to think about...eh :-) Marion |
We could meet in Montreal,
I posted in September asking for restaurant reccs and you were right the restaurants were wonderful - not a bad meal, and even though it was early October the weather was so wonderful we ate every meal outside. October - Canada - shorts! not something I expected but then again we've had a good couple of days here in MA :-) |
You guys are great , you know I think highly of you Marion . That 's not a bad idea is it ? A future meeting at some great locale . It's a popular thing on the U.S. and Europe boards , I believe ? Ours will be more exciting , GTG combined with exotic locale ! And yes , Alya , I had forgotten about your trip here , I am suprised(and happy ) you actually had some nice days ... Our October was cool , grey , and wet ! It's a great city . Next time we meet for coffee !
|
Actually , I forgot ! We had 1.5 weeks of INCREDIBLE weather early/mid October ... 26 and 28 some days !
