Am I best to take Barbadian or US $

US is accepted everywhere, so are credit cards. I always bring a bunch of singles with me for smaller things and use the cc for meals.

Seconding US. Remember you can always convert some when you're there.

No, I am a Brit and I disagree. I think you are better with US$, they are ubiqitous (sp?) in the Caribbean, we all like the green ones!

Still not certain any more views, remembering I will loose money converting £'s into US$ and possible again converting US$ into B$

I personally consider it a sign of respect to convert to the local currency, even though US dollars are widely accepted.

In your case, John, I'd convert some pounds to EC$ and then use a debit/credit card for large purchases. If you have an ATM/debit card, you can get local currency out of their ATM machines.

oops, I neglected to notice that you are traveling to Barbados, in which case substitute Bajan $ for EC$ in my above post. Sorry!

(EC$ stands for Eastern Caribbean, which most of the English-speaking islands use for their currency, with Barbados being one notable exception.)
