Which Carribean Island in November?

Hi,

My husband and I are planning to go to a Carribean island for 1 week towards the end of November.

Please recommend an island. There seems to be so many out there and I don't know what the differences among them are.

Things we like to do:
* Snorkeling -- so please recommend a place w/ good snorkeling site(s).

* Hiking

* Some night life is fine but not totally required

* Not too too expensive

Thanks much!

Jen

I was under the impression that GC is a pretty expensive island

Negril - pretty affordabale to stay there as compared to the other islands, you can stay at a larger AI or a smaller hotel (see www.negril.com for those), great spots on the beach for nightlife and Negril is considered to have one of the better beaches in the Caribbean as well as great sunsets. Excellent snorkeling.

Provo on Turks and Caicos, however, is even better for snorkeling. Has to be the clearest, blue water we have ever seen. And great snorkeling right off the coast. Unfortunately, there is no nightlife however unless staying at an AI and can be very pricey.

Grand Cayman is expensive for eating out, but represents absolutely excellent value for accommodation, diving, snorkelling, car rental and is also the safest island in the Caribbean, not to mention being only an hour from Miami....

Hi again,

Thanks for your inputs. I've started looking at some guidebooks, and am now thinking of the U.S. Virgin Islands -- St. Thomas and St. John (particularly good for snorekling?).

Please advise on how we should split our time between the 2 places w/in 7 nights.

Please recommend any centrally located places to stay that are not too expensive (less than $100 a night).

Any experience w/ staying in a tent or cabin at the national park in St. John?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Our other option is Puerto Rico (we're limited by what our freq flyer miles offer).

Thanks much!

JC
