Where would you go? 4 day vacation on limited funds....help!
 

My husband and I will be celebrating our anniversary at the end of March. We'd like a "mini vacation" of 3-4 days (say a Thursday to Monday) around the end of March, first of April.

We can't make any lock anything in until after March 15 in case my job status changes, so we may be limited to "last minute packages". We live in Austin and can fly from here, DFW or SAT easily.

We're looking for a relaxing atmosphere that we can hang out by the pool, swim up to the bar or lay out by the beach. At night, someplace with music for dancing, but not necessarily a rowdy crowd.

The challenge....limited funds. We really can't spend more than $750-$1000. We DO have a $350 voucher for American so if we bookthe air thru them, we'd have more $$ available.

Can we do a trip to somewhere in Jamaica on this type budget? If so, where and how?

Don't think you can get to Jamaica from Austin on your funds even on a last minute deal. Maybe Cancun or Playa Del Carmen? Funjet has charters from SA and Austin to Mexico. Check out their Hot Deals for last minute travel. A couple of years ago we went to the Eldorado Resort and Spa in Playa for 4 days $399 pp from Austin.

Since you are in Texas, consider Ixtapa/Zihuatenejo in Mexico. The weather should be perfect that time of year - rainy season doesn't begin until June. I thought the area was beautiful.

I would just check out the last minute travel sites (travelzoo, site59) and pick someplace fun in your budget when the time comes. You never know what they'll offer.

I booked a trip to disney for 1 week and it was really great! My total expenses ..air room gifts food... came out to about $800 for the week... Unheard of!!
