A small gorup of thirty something couples love traveling to Elbow Cay, and want a similar experience (golf carts for transportation, cruise around the island on a rental boat, secluded island with not a ton of people) but want to try another remote Caribbean island. We all enjoy snorkeling, laying by the beach, drinking cold Kalik's, and relaxing but away from it all and like to stay at vacation rentals. Suggestions? Thank you in advance!

There are very few places in the Caribbean where the mode of transportation is golf carts. that aside, Jost Van Dyke in the BVI's comes very close to what you are seeking.

Visitors to the island of Mustique (in the Grenadines) must use mini-mokes to drive around the island and there are only 2 or 3 small Inns for accommodations. The rest of the island is very high end villas - quite a few are for rent.

Staniel Cay in Bahamas. Colorful bungalows. Golf carts around island. Yacht Club bungalows come with 16' skiffs to explore the surrounding Cays. Swimming pigs, Thunderball Ghrotto for snorkeling, sharks, sand bars, and water actually prettier than Elbow Cay! The only thing Elbow Cay has that Staniel doesn't is the cute little town.

And tons of Kaliks!

Other golf cart destinations:

Harbour Island (very chic, gorgeous people watching, stunning beach, cuter town than Elbow Cay, although quaint, still more upscale vibe)

Salt Cay Turks and Caicos. Tiny island, colorful and very sleepy. Nice snorkeling, whale watching in season, residents are characters! No Kaliks, but Turks Head. Population of 65, you'll become friends with all of them. Gorgeous beach (one of nicest in world!).

Grand Turk, while has cars, also can get around golf carts. Smallish island, a sprinkle of beach bars. Quiet and sleepy on 1 end, crazy cruise port on the other (and surprisingly stays separate) terrific snorkeling.

Staniel Cay Yacht Club- most cottages come with a 13' whaler IF you purchase the meal plan. The newer cottages come with a 17' Boston whaler IF you purchase the meal plan (includes meals, boat, boat gas, kayaks, bikes, SUPs but no alcohol). Just to clarify earlier posts. Great place- we love it. IF you want to rent a house, there are several options on the island but you will have a harder time stocking the house as groceries are extremely limited on the island. IF you can do without the options of other places to eat out, you might look at Sampson Cay, Exuma as well for your group. Other suggestion- Green Turtle Cay, Abaco which is the golf cart kind of island, many options for eating/drinking out, boat rentals, plenty of very nice houses to rent and much better availability of groceries plus a couple of good day trip excursions with Brendal's Dive Shop or Lincoln Jones for fishing, snorkeling, beach picnics, etc.

Lubbers Cay. Small, quiet, one restaurant. Don't need a golf cart, it's easy to walk!
