Where to stay in TC?
 

We are planning on going to TC in July. Sounds as if there are plenty of restraurnts.<BR>Are prices comparable to Grand Cayman? Should we just go back to GC or try TC? THANKS WIG

Definitely try Provo TC. Not as developed and touristy as Grand Cayman. Also no cruise ships. Provo is more laid back and relaxing. Prices are less than GC because on GC you lose .25 cents on the dollar with the exchange rate. Two good web sites for Provo info are www.wherewhenhow.com the on line magazine of the Turks and Caicos and www.adamsnames.tc. Click on Turks and Caicos and links for all kinds of info. Lots of great restaurants on Provo in all price ranges. Like them better than the ones we went to in GC.

I have been to Provo four times ( I also got married there with 25 friends and family members so I stayed many places and visited every resort on the island before deciding where to host the wedding and reception) and can tell you that the most romantic place to stay is definitely Coral Gardens.It is secluded yet very close to many great restaurants. It is located directly in front of the Princess Alexandria Underwater National Park (which literally starts three feet in front of your door so you do not have to take an excursion or swim a mile before enjoying beautiful underwater fish and scenery). The ocean Club (original and west) are also really nice - the food, service, and beaches are superb. I have stayed many places in the caribbean and none have yet been as nice as Providenciales. It is ranked the number one most romantic beach in the world by Conde Nast for a good reason! Everywhere that we and our guests dined was excellent and the weather was perfect. The last time we went, we stayed two weeks and we did not have a single rainy day. My husband and I have been to other Caribbean islands and have yet to experience the same great service and atmosphere that we have had in Turks. We highly recommend Provo and if you have any questions, please email me! Some great restaurants are the Gecko Grille, Coyaba, The Terrace, The Coconut Grove and the Sharkbite Cafe.

mags, I'm actually planning a wedding away in T&amp;C with about 25 guests for the end of this year. I'd appreciate some ideas on where to stay. We're looking for 2 places, one with our group for the wedding and 1 for just the two of us for our honeymoon.

T&amp;C was one of the best trips I've ever taken. We stayed at the Sands and loved it. I've never been to Grand Cayman though.<BR><BR>However I disagree with above about Coral Gardens. The restaurant there - Coyaba - is FABULOUS and you must go. But the resort is NOT secluded. It's right next door to Beaches, which is the only crowded spot on the whole island, hence the beach at Coral Gardens is crowded too. AND since the reef is right there, people (myself included) from all over the island come to that spot to snorkel. I would not stay at Coral Gardens for this reason...

One more thing...as much as I loved T&amp;C, I don't think I'd get married there for one reason - it's hard to get to. It's hard to get flights during the week (if at all)...so unless your guests are willing to stay for an entire week, it might be an impossible trip for them. Be sure to look into that...<BR><BR>I'd look into Parrot Cay for honeymoon!!

Just to clarify the above posts it is not that difficult to get to Provo--Yes Delta only flies once a week from Atlanta and US Air flies 4 days a week via Charlotte but American has 3 flights a day 7 days a week from Miami. Beaches is not right next to Coral Gardens. Yes it is the next resort up the beach east of Coral Gardens but it is at least a 10 minute walk. In between there are private homes and a few villas. Yes people do come to snorkel on the reef but it is never crowded. There have been times that I have been the only one on the reef and the reef is big enough to accomodate everyone
