Where to stay....
We are looking at going in Mid-November and nice beach and ocean are our number 1 priority. Next is luxury, rooms and ammenities.
We've never been to PR so any help and advice is very much appricaiated. I am looking at: La Concha - but it's hard to find reviews El Conquistador - it looks like a hassle to get to the beach El Convento - looks really neat but is it on the beach? Any recommendations would really be helpful. |
One other question...
I just noticed that El Conquistidor and Las Casitias Village are listed seperatley on Expedia but they appear to be the same property. Can someone explain the differences to me? This property is very intriguing to me but the distance of the beach worries me. |
El Convento is not on the beach. It's smack dab in the middle of Old San Juan.

El Conquistador - "it looks like a hassle to get to the beach" -- it has 2-3 pools but to get to the beach you have to take a boat. Their beach is actually a little island. The boats used to take forever (one time while there it was an hour wait to get the boat) but I have read they have faster boats now.
El Conquistador really gets mixed reviews. Some hate it. It's been several years since we were there for a convention - I thought it was very nice. Not the kind of place I prefer but it was a lot of fun since we were with a large group. Our group is going back in 2 years so it must not be too bad -- our group is pretty picky. |
La concha has a great pool and beach area. Its defifnitely like south beach in PR. But it all depends on what you want. El convento has more of an old world charm and is right in downtown. Do you want a more beach vacation or city. My vote is la concha, it was newly remodeled and is really nice.

La Concha is new and just reopened in December (or late November?) We passed by it walking from the Marriott - it's contemporary and has a nice pool set-up.

I think this is the 3rd time you've posted this exact same question. Please just 'top' the old post in lieu of starting it all over again. Thx.
