Where to spend a week at the beach(in april)

I'm going to a wedding in New York in May and thought I would combine the short trip with a week on a beach before the wedding weekend.

First idea that popped up was somewhere in southern FL but I've been a few times over the last couple of years, so somewhere new would be nice.

Now I'm thinking maybe somewhere in the Caribbean!

Any suggestions on where to look at?

We're talking last week in April and I want sun and beach. I'm more into smaller beaches than resort style holidays. Good food and drinks and a bit of seightseeing would be great!

Other than that I would like to keep the flight from NYC below 400 usd.

Your biggest limiting factor going to the Caribbean is finding R/T airfares from NYC for under $400.

Look at Cancun, Cozumel, Nassau (Bahamas) and perhaps the Dominican Republic. Any other Caribbean destination is probably going to exceed your airline budget by anywhere from $150 to $400.

Yeah - did look around a bit. Might have to adjust the budget a bit.

On the dates I want to travel I could go to Puerto Rico for 290 though.

I would recommend either Tortola or Montserrat if you want a nice vacation away from the commercial resorts. I found a couple places on vrbo that were unforgettable. Might be a good place to look.
