Where to scuba in the Caribbean?

We need any advice on where we should take our scuba trip in the Caribbean during the month of May. Grand Cayman, Bahamas or St John? We've heard great things about the Grand Cayman and was curious if the hurricane affected the scuba sites... Also, I've heard something about "sea lice" in the Carribbean during the months of April-July... does anyone know anything about that? Should we cross the Caribbeans off our list for vacation? Any help would be wonderful! Thanks!

From what I have read, scub at Grand Cayman is actually better since the hurricane since alot of build up gunk was washed away. I did not scuba there, but snorkeling was great. Everywhere I heard people talking of how wonderful the scuba diving was while I was there.

Dove in Grand Cayman in June and it was amazing diving. We didn't have any sea lice problem.

StVincent , Dominica , and Saba are dive destinations , as well as Tobago which also has great snorkelling .

St. Eustatius might be another option if you are looking specifically for a dive vacation.

My husband dove on the east side of Grand Cayman about 6 weeks after the hurricane. He was one of the first few boats out after operations got underway again and diving on that end (the non-touristy end) meant that they were the only boat in the water. The hurricane closed off some old diving spots, but opened up new swim throughs. He thought the diving was just amazing.

For scuba diving in Cayman, check out reviews on scubadiving.com.

For a nice blog, try http://www.captainsblogcayman.blogspot.com/ , run by the guys at Ocean Frontiers

Re Cayman Activity Guide, yes it is a good forum, but they restrict recommendations to advertisers... just something to be aware of.

By no means am I an expert on diving, but I have been diving in both Grand Cayman (3 years ago) and very recently in St. John.

Grand Cayman was definitely better. St. John was great for snorkeling, but the diving was just okay.

turks and caicos has outstanding diving. 7000'walls. excellent clarity. check out provo turtle divers, or numerous other dive companies on provo listed on www.provo.net the aggressor is a lux dive boat that stays out for a week which might be cool.
also take a look at www.scubamom.com for a look at bvi diving. her site is really fun.
