Where to Honeymoon in Barbados

Need help picking a hotel to stay at for our honeymoon in Barbados. We lean more towards smaller places than large resorts, those that give more of a feel of intimacy than catering to mass romance. It’s not necessarily a size issue as a desire to avoid crowds. Not that we would rule any suggestions out if you feel they are fabulous, just trying to give you a feel of us. We are getting married the week prior at the RockHouse Hotel in Negril Jamaica. We are 29 and 35 from Charlotte NC and enjoy relaxing on a beautiful beach as well as activities like hiking, biking, and visiting cultural and natural sites of interest (have already noted the Botanical Gardens, Turtle Swimming and Caves and possibilities…would love other suggestions). Would appreciate some experienced suggestions of great hotels/resorts as well as any other must dos during our trip. Thanks as always for your time and great advice.

IMO the class act on Barbados is Coral Reef Club. It is family owned for some 60 years, and the care shows. Low rise or cottage accommodations on beautiful grounds on a beach which is at the edge of an underwater park. Noted restaurant, entertainment. See www.coralreefbarbados.com

Any of the following would be perfect for you: Coral Reef Club, The Sandpiper, Treasure Beach, or Cobblers Cove. The first 2 are walkable into Holetown where you will find several restaurants and the new Limegrove Center with high-end shops, restaurants and cinemas.

Check out my tips at: www.barbadostips.com as I have lots of phots and information that may help you with your planning.

You won't find biking in Barbados but most of your other things are there. For some spectacular gardens try to see Huntes Gardens, Flower Forest and Andromeda Gardens. They have zip-lining now on the island along with Segways. Lots for active people to do once you are finished with the beach.

Cobblers Cove. A beautiful, intimate place for a honeymoon! www.cobblerscove.com. I still have great memories of my honeymoon there! A few things to see/do in Barbados are: Wildlife Preserve (a definite)...do a lunch cruise with Rubaiyat Catamaran Cruises for snorkeling and swimming with turtles, Harrison's Cave, Friday Night Fish Fry @ Oistins, etc. Happy Honeymoon!!!

On Barbados I would definitely recommend Bayfield House or Coral Reef Club and a little horseback riding.
