Where to go with husband in Caribbean NO KIDS

Hello Fodorites... Husband and I have a free long weekend (4 nights) to go to the Caribbean without our children in early July. Looking for a resort 4 to 5 star (no dated rooms or condos), direct flight from South Florida, beautiful beaches, amazing food, a little shopping for me and adult atmosphere. We have been to Aruba, Puerto Rico, Atlantis and Jamaica. Thinking about Turks and Caicos, St. Thomas, St. John or St. Croix??? Any thoughts? Thanks.

The Grace Bay Club in T&C has a no kids part of the hotel and family friendly part of the hotel. That might fit the bill for you. Unless you go to an "adult only" resort, you might see kids at some point, so something like this might work.

I would also recommend Cap Juluca in Anguilla, though 5 star, some do think the rooms are a bit tired. I thought it was a wonderful 5 star resort. It is the type of resort I would never think of bringing my 5 year old. when we went there were 2 or 3 older kids but no "children".

Galley Bay in Antigua has a no kids policy except (I believe) for the Xmas holidays. We went in early December one year and it was great! All inclusive includes the drinks, can't beat that. Very professional staff, accommodations were nice, food was OK (it's not Anguilla) and vibe was very relaxing. Not cheap, as I recall, but not over the top either. Planning to return.

Hi, I was also going to suggest Galley Bay. In 14 years of taking one trip a year without our kids, we have found kids at all resorts, even those that aren't really kid-friendly, so I strongly recommend an adults-only resort. In the summer there will be tons of kids everywhere. There just aren't too many adults-only resorts. I was going to recommend Jamaica Inn but see you don't want Jamaica. Others on islands you haven't mentioned but you might look at: LaLuna on Grenada, Sandals Emerald Bay on Great Exuma (nice quick flight from MIA/FLL but won't have the shopping you seek), Rendezvous on St. Lucia.

One more idea, you might look at the relatively upscale adult-only AI chains such as Secrets (Secrets Sanctuary Cap Cana looks nice and its an easy flight from MIA) or the other Sandals resorts or Couples.

Thanks for your responses. It's not as important to us that there are NO kids at the resort... just that we are not bringing ours. No need for an adult only place just not overwhelmed with children. So far, we have ruled out St. Thomas and St. John. I like the Gansevoort in Turks & Caicos but we have never been to the french side of St. Martin so that would be a possibility. I have a friend who stays at the La Sammana every year and loves it but she didn't recommend the hotel in July because they close up over the summer. She said the island is great for food and shopping. We want a full service resort not a condo. It seems some of the more popular places to stay in St. Martin are condos. Any thoughts?

La Samanna has been "over the hill" for 8-10 years. The rooms are dated, the food based upon 2 visits (the last a 2 day stop on a sailboat) was marginal) and the opportunity to snorkel is zero. But, I must admit the beach is lovely.
If you would go for 5 nights you might want to consider Peter Island in the BVI's. The only months when children are really present are school breaks and summer. In june it is over-run by honeymooners but the rest of the year you will have 90% adults. If you watch LuxuryLink.com you can bid on a 5 night stay at 65%-75% of the rack rate swhich is high.

I dont think she really cares if there are no kids there. She just said she wasn't bringing hers. I as always would suggest Anguilla. There isn't much shopping there, but you can always ferry to St. Martin for the day to shop. The island has great, great restaurants, super resorts and the best beaches you will find.

We have been to St. Maarten several times & love the island. We always go without our kids. GREAT food & shopping. Have stayed on Orient Beach at Green Cay & L'Host. Their are others around the area-Alamanda, etc--they are nice. We also love the Simpson Bay area because the resteraunts are very close. Stayed at the Pelican & Sunterra Flamingo Have stayed at Oyster Pond on Dawn Beach. Try the new Westin close by. You must rent a car. I would choose St. Maartin. Drive around the island with your Rum drinks & stop at all the beaches, then make it a point to get to teh bar at the end of the runway-Sunset Beach Bar.Grand Case has some of the best restreraunts in the Caribbean...Very Fun Island

I am forever tiring, but I would try Cuisinart in Anguilla. It is just the best place my husband and I have ever been. It won't dissapoint!
