Where to go in July

We are looking to go somewhere in July. There are 8 of us and 4 are kids ages 10-19.
We would like an AI due to the kids. Our main priority for activities would be for the kids to be able to snorkel daily from the beach we are at. Can anyone give me any recommendations? Not sure which island/resort would be best for us.

Does anyone have any suggestions on which island would be best for us to have the ability to snorkel from the beach. Any recommendations for an All Inclusive resort?

Thanks!

Debbie,

I know this is the carribean forum, but have you considered Mexico? Specifically what's called the Mayan Riviera in Playa Del Carmen and southward?

We spent a couple of vacation weeks in the area. Almost all of the resorts are AI, and there are some that have good snorkeling from the beach.

The only other idea that comes to mind from the islands we've visited is Beaches Resort on Turks & Caicos. It is just a resort or two down from good snorkeling from the beach. Never been to the resort, but we just got back from Provo.

Ken, I have considered Mexico and have not ruled it out. Would you reccomend a good AI there that has snorkeling from the beach?
Thanks

Debbie,

When we went to Mexico, we stayed in the same resort twice, but our priorites were a little different. We very much wanted to avoid those resorts where there is limited shade and you have to get up early to reserve some seats by playing what is called the 'towel game'. The resort we stayed at, Barcelo Maya had an abundance of shade on the beach, and even more around the two pools, including lots of hammocks.

But, the snorkeling off the beach is just OK. We did a couple of excursions to get our snorkeling fix. There are some GREAT adventure excusions in the area that we went on also.

As a rule of thumb, the further south you are from PDC, the better the snorkeling will be off the beach. If you go all the way to Akumel, there are several nearby good snorkeling locations.
