Where to go in August?

Since we have to wait and go on our holiday in August, I wonder if anyone can suggest which of these islands might have better weather and less rain then. Antigua, St.Lucia, Cuba, Punta Cana (DR) St. Martin? Would appreciate advice!

Aruba would be your best choice weatherwise (and otherwise in my opinion). Least chace for a hurricane, little to no rain, nice breeze, awesome beaches, turquoise water, fun activities and great restaurants.

August is not a particularily wet month in the Caribbean, although you do run the risk of hurricanes (the season runs from June 1 to November 30, with the most active period being Sept 1 thru October 15). Of the islands you mentioned, Antigua is the driest. That said, I've been to St. Martin and St. Lucia in August and experience excellent weather. Of course, that was in the past, what will happen this comming August is anybody's guess. If you are concerned about the weather, you'd be better off considering Barbados, St. Vincent, any of the Grenadines, Grenada or the Dutch islands of Aruba, Bonaire or Curacao as these are the least likely to be affected by tropical storms.

Oops. Sorry Jen...I misread your post. I thought you asked about Aruba as opposed to Antigua.

Thanks Kristen et all! I actually was thinking about Aruba too so that's perfect :)
