Where to go??
Hi group,
My family of self, husband, son, girlfriend, and handicapped son (22 with Downs but very capable) want to spend "Christmas in the Caribbean." We spent last Christmas in Belize and enjoyed scuba, snorkeling, fishing, zip lining and cave tubing (even the Downs son). This year we want to do the "St. Somewheres" but have no idea where to start. The boys would also like to play golf. We are coming from New Orleans. Any suggestions?? We heard that getting an island resort then taking day trips to other islands is a good idea but that sound like exploring the island and they want to DO THINGS. Any suggestions?? Price range - about $2000 - $2500 per person for the whole thing, flight, adventures, hotel (nice) and food (is that doable??). Thanks!! |
pick out an all inclusive in the vicinity of playa del carmen, mex. fly to cancun. tons to do including zips, mayan ruins, scuba/snorkel, fishing, cenotes, 2 ecomarine parks (xel-ha & xcaret) golf and more. as christmas is the most expensive time to go to the islands i think mex is your best bet in your price range. locogringo.com has tons of info on the area

I'd also pick the Mayan Riviera (as mentioned above) over any of the Caribbean islands. There's more to do and it is less expensive for similar quality.

Thanks guys but, been there and done that. We know that the Caribbean is expensive at Christmas but that is our only time frame. Some people have to work, ya know??? so we are looking for lesser Antilles bargains or reasonable facilities. We've done the Mexico and Jamaican inclusives. We're looking for the islands - Lesser Antilles. Hints anyone??????

Antigua may have a few resorts in your price range. Also look at St. Martin - plenty of time share and condo rentals that you can probably do on your budget.
Not in the Lesser Antilles but have you considered Roatan? That's certainly doable on your budget. |
