Where to go?

I am a widow with two boys ages 15 & 6. I am looking for an island to go to for x-mas break. We've been to Aruba, St. Thomas, and Hawaii. Want something with great beaches, snorkeling, food, kid's activities, AI, etc. I am interested in Turks and Caicos. But need some feed back or other recommendations. Any is greatly appreciated!! :)

I don't recommend the Turks & Caicos for Christmas because it can be too cold to do the beach comfortably. Instead, look for someplace in the Caribbean. Your money will go farther in Mexico than anywhere else, and I'd recommend you take a look at Cozumel or the Riviera Maya. As for other islands, you'll find more all-inclusive options on Antigua, the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, and Barbados. I really like St. Lucia, but the beaches aren't the best there.

I agree with the other poster. Check out Riviera Maya-specifically Playa Del Carmen. They have some great AI's there. There would be plenty of good kid's activities, great food, super nice beach...all that you are looking for. Try Gran Puerto Real or the Royal.

I think Jamaica would be a spectacular place to celebrate Christmas vacation. It's such a beautiful island and if you're choosing to be in a tropical surrounding, it could create priceless memories for your boys. The food in Jamaica is very good, the staff at the AI's are always very friendly and try very hard to attend to every detail. Let us know what you decide!

Grand Cayman is a great family destination. Good food, snorkeling, relaxing, friendly and safe! My kids did all kinds of scuba, snorkel, parasail, jetski, etc...
We stayed at the Marriott. It is smaller than it's Aruba hotel, but very nice.

Why not try an all exclusive that has activities of children. I'm not sure what the Club Meds are like these days -- but I remember friends of mine took their kids there several years back and had a great time. Also, I believe there are Breezes hotels as well as others. A Windjammer cruise might also be a consideration. Good luck - traveling with your children is great and builds lasting memories but you need to plan carefully so they have activities and you have some downtime too. Enjoy!
