Where to go?
 

My boyfriend and I would like to go somewhere in the Carribean in August, making it our first Carribean voyage. We are having alot of difficulties in deciding a destination.
We are in our middle 20's. We will be traveling for about 9 days, and it will be a budget trip while staying in a family owned villa. We want something extremely fun, with things to do such as sightseeing, but not overly touristy that culture is lost. Looking for great beaches/ turquois water to snorkel a few times,and a great nightlife to chose from is important.
Trying to do some homework, so any advice on a final destination would be greatly appreciated.

One thing is not clear from your post - are you staying in a "family owned villa"? If so, on what islnd is it located? That may have a bearing on what other islands you can easily reach. Also, you mention you want to do a "budget trip" - well it would help if you could give us some idea of what that budget is - after all some people think a "budget" of $2,000 for a trip is pushing it while and others think nothing of budgeting $15,000 for a trip.

My family owns a villa through Interval International, and we have a weeks vacation that we can take anywhere, as the villa are all over the world. I have not yet picked which villa because I have not yet picked which island to visit. I have a free place to stay, so my $2,500 budget consists of money to play with.

Interval International has affiliated properties on most of the Caribbean islands. Since you are looking for something "not overly touristy" check out some of the Bahamas Out-island locations that Interval offers. Most of the Out-islands have the great beaches, the torquoise waters and the snorkeling you are seeking. The only thing they lack is an active nightlife.

If nightlife is a key factor you may find you'll have to give up a bit on the "not too touristy" angle. You see, quite and secluded places by definition means few tourists and that translates into fewer tourist type attractions. Local businees people just aren't goig to set up a businees where there are few or no customers. If you want an active nightlife try islands like St. Thomas, St. Martin, St. Barths (very expensive), Antigua, Aruba and Grand Cayman.

If you think you can plan in June for a timeshare exchange "anywhere", you may be disappointed. One typically has to plan ahead for timeshare exchanges, so your first call should be to Interval International to see what they have available, as that may narrow the field a little.
