where to go?
Next December I am planning a getaway trip. I will be travelling with my brother and I am looking for someplace quiet where we can just get away from the hassles of our everyday life. We like to lay on the beach, swim, snorkle and explore and be out on the water. I would like someplace that is private but not filled with honeymooners. Price is not an option and I have never traveled to the Carribean. Looking at resorts or private villas. I love the idea of being on a small island. Does anyone have any great ideas to share with me? I have checked out Petite St Vincent, Peter's Island, Biras Creek, Cotton House, Palm Island, Jade Mountain and Cayo Espanto in Belize. They are all incredibly lovely but seem like honeymoon places.
Any advice would be great!
Thanks

Take a look at Turks and Caicos. It fits your description very well. It's a short non-stop flight from the NYC area, has a gorgeous beach, lots of water activities, and plenty of condos/hotels to choose from. We visited in November and stayed at West Bay Club, a luxurious condo development on the quieter end of Grace Bay Beach. Swimming, snorkeling, and other activities were available right in front of the hotel. Some mornings my husband and I had most of the beach to ourselves. It was heaven! Not a honeymooner in sight at our hotel, although we were just next door to the Gansevoort, which was honeymoon central. Anyway, I think Turks has now become one of our favorite Caribbean destinations. Not much nightlife, but ahhhh, that beach is one of the prettiest I've ever seen. And the weather was perfect every day!

We loved our private villa at Nail Bay on Virgin Gorda. There are other (wonderful) villas at Mahoe Bay, but they are all bigger - we were looking for 1 BR. So depending on what you are looking for in terms of # of BR, VIrgin Gorda has it - and it has everything else on your list.
No casinos, great scenery, snorkeling from shore, goos restaurants, and so much more.

I agree with xyz99. We love Virgin Gorda and we stay in Nail Bay at Villa LaVida www.villalavida.com. Probably too big for your needs but the beach is semi private. We took the Kayaks out and explored quite often and enjoyed the awesome snorkeling from the beach in front of the house. I'd email the owners directly and ask for a discount since it's only you and your brother. We asked and they worked with us. Hope you have a great trip!
