Where to Go????
 

I need suggestions!!<BR><BR>My sisters and I want to take Mom away for her 60th B-day this winter (might wait until spring when prices come down) and really do not know where to go. We will have my nephew with us (5 years old) so does need to have somethings for kids but not be geard for him.<BR><BR>We have all traveled a great deal to the Caribbean and use to nice resorts but need not be top of the line but do need a beautiful beach. Can be a resort, large or small, villa or condo. All-inclusive is preferred but if close to a town area for meals, not necessary. <BR><BR>We ruled out Jamaica as we have been so many times. Also, Barbados, St. Maarten, St. Criox, Bermuda, Aruba as well as the Beaches resorts and Club Med type deals. <BR><BR>Bahamas, USVI (st. Thomas and St. John), St. Lucia look good. And have looked at www.vrbo.com and www.vacationspot.com. We have not set a price yet but since my sister and I will be paying for all of us, can not be too pricey but if possible would like a large room/villa to accomondate us all. Must be easy to get to - no air connections but boats would be fun!<BR><BR>Huge problem as to where to start!! Any suggestions based on previous stays?!<BR><BR>Thanks!!<BR><BR>Penney

St. John is incredible. Great beaches and snorkeling and a wonderful town for shopping.<BR>We stayed at Caneel Bay and loved it.

Does Caneel Bay have a nice beach?

Actually, it has seven beaches! Yes seven! Quite a property.<BR>Ronnie

But you're paying a lot for beaches and green space at Caneel while the rooms themselves are not in the luxury category, and the food is expensive.<BR>It's an extremely quiet place, with rooms spread out cabin style all over the property. A 5 year old may or may not find it fun depending on whether he can entertain himself without gadgetry or othger kids or pools etc.

Hi,<BR>if you want great beaches try Antigua. There are several affordable all inclusives to choose from like Jolly Beach and Pineapple Beach Resort.<BR>You can get a suite at Jolly Beach and they have a kids club. Pineapple beach is great also, witha very nice beach for snorkeling. I don't think they have a kids club per se, but activities are organised daily and the staff are wonderful. Caneel might be one of the pricey options with a good activity program children and wondeful beaches. Off season some offer second room complimentary or at a reduced price like Little Dix does. Other than at Caneel on St. John you will be driving to the beach. Buccaneer on St. Croix since you said USVI? And check out BVI's Cooper Island and Virgin Gorda.

Try Secret Harbour Resort, St. Thomas near Red Hook. From there you can over to St. John for the day.

I really do apprecaite it.<BR><BR>I did look into Caneel Bay - does look a bit pricey but in the Spring, might be able to swing it.<BR><BR>Bucanneer is definetly out but was a good suggestion, is a beautiful resort but whole family has been there!<BR><BR>I have heard good thing about Jolly Beach and Pinapple and only I have been there - not the rest of them, so I will look into that. <BR><BR>BVI - I always gathered they would be perfect for adults but too quiet for a childn but will look into it further! We have been to Harbour Island, Bahamas and also rented a villa on St. John, USVI. I only have these two to go by and have not been to the others mentioned. We really loved St. John and definitely would return. Harbour Island, probably not!. Just our personal opinion. (so you bashers out there)hold off on your comments, if you can.......<BR><BR>We preferred the villa on St. John and also the island is much prettier and more to do. Go to USVI Online and there are many links and info on St. John. Also, getting there from the east coast is easy.<BR><BR>We did drop by Caneel Bay resort because we almost stayed there. It is lovely but we were much happier that we rented a villa. Lots of privacy, more space. Beautiful views/sunsets. Many villas also have plunge pools.<BR><BR>Bermuda is also lovely but I believe you mentioned you have already been there.<BR><BR>Let us know which island you end up choosing. I'm sure no matter which island you choose, you will have a great time.<BR><BR>SD

Thanks Stu for the suggestion. St. John does look so beautiful and I keep leaning in that direction. I have plenty of time so will look further into it.<BR><BR>Is there enough for a 5 year old to do or will he get bored?
