where to eat/walk/snorkel in st Martin? Anse Marsel?
I/ve booked a room at L'Meridien in St Martin and wasn't planning on renting a car. Are there many places to walk to from there? Is it walking distance to Marigot? Recommendations for restaurants? Good beaches for long walks? Snorkeling?

1. You really cannot walk anywhere from L'Meridien. It is very isolated.
2. Anse Marcel is a lovely scenic beach but not long - good for a short walk
3. Long beach walks are pleasant at Orient Beach but to get there you will either have to take a taxi or rent a car
4. Same thing with restaurants - lots of good ones in Grand Case but to get there you need wheels
5. Marigot - even further away than Grand Case
7. I cannot comment on the snorkeling - we just swam the day we went to Anse Marcel.
I recommend renting a car at least for a couple of days.

The snorkling in Anse Marcel is pretty good. When we went last summer, the current and wind made the conditions bad all over the island but Anse Marcel was well sheltered. You should go along the left hand side of the cove (when looking at the water). It starts small and then leads out toward the sea. My wife and I really enjoyed it. They also have a dive shop there that runs daily scuba/snorkle trips. I highly recommend it.

I forgot to add: I do agree with the previous post. If you want quiet and relaxed, Anse Macel is your place. It's peaceful, secluded and very beautiful. If you want more to do, you'll have to drive.
