Jen,

I have some good news for you. My husband and I had a wonderful experience at the Regency Sandals. At first, I was worried about the "cheesiness" factor but it wasn't at all like that. We enjoyed all the little perks that come all inclusive. We golfed twice, got private tennis lessons, played volleyball in the afternoons, went snorkling in the morning, and then went over to the Grande for the wakeboarding (also went tubing which was a riot as my husband and I screamed as the boat pulled us very fast.) I recommend staying in the "newer section" of the Regency. It is the building that is closest to the pool area. OR you could stay in a villa up towards the cliffs. (some are gorgeous with their own private pools, etc) We had a 24 hour personal butler, (which was an amazing feature) but if you don't get that service, the concierge was always available. Also, I highly recommend the horseback riding excursion. We went down a mountain on the horses and rode the horses on the beach. We even went in the water with them! It was delightful.

Quick side note about me - I am very picky when it comes to resort accommodations and I don't think you will be dissapointed. I sure wasn't. One of our favorite meals was actually when we went to Halcyon Sandals and ate at the restuarant that is on the pier. As far as Regency goes, we enjoyed the French restauranct on site (La Toc I think) and the Japanese place. I did not like the Carribean restaurant there.

Jill,
Thank you for your response. Its great to hear good things about Sandals Regency. We don't think we can afford the villas, though they seem amazing, but we were thinking about getting a room in one of those buildings (on the cliff) because that seems to be the ideal location. Do you think we should only go with a room on the cliff its a villa? Our only must have is a room with a view of the ocean. Otherwise, we'd rather NOT be at the pool - we prefer some element of seclusion. I called Sandals and asked their advice and they recommended the building on the cliffs, or one of the towers. What do you think?
Also, did you receive an upgrade when you arrived? A friend suggested we book a lower level room with the hope that we receive a free upgrade, but with the backup plan of paying for the room we really want (if they don't automatically do it). Thoughts?

I definitely recommend a room on the cliffs. I didn't like the tower building. It was the oldest part of the hotel. We got a one level up room upgrade. (there are so many levels!) I say you book the lowest level oceanview room and then go for the upgrade. That is what I would do. If you have any more questions, please feel free to ask.

Thanks again for the info Jill. I tried to find a way to write just to you, so others don't have to suffer through our back and forth, but I couldn't figure it out (perhaps its not possible)? But anyway, we booked our room last weekend and went with a room on the cliff (which you ended up suggesting so that was lucky!).
Any other suggestions you might have of things to do or places to see, please pass them along. I promised my fiance that half the trip would consist of being lazy poolside. But that means the other half is doing what I want!

I definitely recommend the horseback riding excursion that goes along the beach. I also recommend taking advantage of the free golf (it can be so expensive if you had to pay for it!) and you even get your own caddy. Also, we signed up for tennis and even got free tennis lessons. The snorkling was neat. All of this is included in your package. The horseback riding was not included.

Oh, and how can I forget! We got a couples massage on the beach in a private gazebo on a secluded part of the beach. It was glorious! It was pricey, but I thought it was worth it.
