when is hamilton, bermuda NOT busy with cruise ship passengers
 

Someone had posted a link once that gave info on when cruises dock in hamilton, Bermuda, but i can't find that post! I'd like to avoid those crowds if possible. Does anyone have any info on that?

Emcash, it's so bad this season that I can tell, by the crowds in Hamilton, if there's a ship docked all the way over in King's Wharf. They're just taking the ferry in to town - not much avoiding that!

Mega cruise ships will be coming to Bermuda until at least 2018 under a 10-year new deal struck between Government and Norwegian Cruise Line. The ten-year agreement which will come into effect in 2009 was announced in November 2007. It means two state-of-the-art Panamax vessels, usually travelling from New York and Boston, will each make at least 22 extended calls here per season. The Freestyle Cruising ships will dock at the new pier at Dockyard from 2009.

Norwegian Dream will sail, until some time in 2008, from Boston and arrive in St. George's on Tuesday mornings and sail on Fridays. In 2008 she was sold to a Cyprus-based owner.
Norwegian Spirit, which has a passenger capacity of 2,000, will sail from Boston to Bermuda on a Friday, calling into Dockyard from Sunday to Wednesday.
The 2,200-capacity Norwegian Dawn will sail from New York on Sundays, calling at Dockyard from Wednesday mornings until Friday afternoon.
Norwegian Majesty, the ship which has served NCL's Boston to St. George's business for 15 years, will sail until later in 2008 or some time in early 2009 to St. George's from Charleston, Philadelphia and Baltimore, arriving in St. George's on Mondays and sailing on Thursdays. In 2008 she was sold to a Cyprus-based owner.
The deal means the Island would have cruise ships at Dockyard at least five nights a week during peak season and would mean the town of St. George still had a regular influx of passengers. As part of the deal NCL has agreed to sponsor the annual Bermuda Music Festival, support the St. George's Foundation and the Bermudian Heritage Association and develop a new programme to encourage cruise passengers to dine in restaurants ashore.

Unless they've changed it recently, the only ships that are allowed to stay in port on the weekends is Regent. That is a smaller ship with only 490 passengers. So, that is your best bet.

The cruise ships go to Bermuda from around the second week of April to late October. Our last trip was in late March-early April 2007, and it was nice not having to contend with the cruise ship crowds. We promised ourselves that we would never go to Bermuda during cruise ship season.

It breaks my heart to see the mega ships coming into Bermuda. Loved St. George.. so charming...In Hamilton many of the favorite shops are gone..If your not cruising...then mid-October if you can avoid the storms HAVE A BERMUDAFUL DAY
