What's your favorite "patch" of Negril Beach?

My girlfriend and I will be visiting Negril on a day trip. We will be staying in another part of Jamaica. What part of the 7 mile beach is the quietest in terms of few vendors? We are also looking for a place that will allow us to rent chairs and umbrellas. Is there any snorkeling or just great beach (which is fine with us).
Thanks

Try in front of Cosmo's, a good spot for lunch as well. Park outside, walk through the restaurant/bar and out to beachside tables, rentable chaises/windsurfers/watersports gear.etc. Very casual.

I'll second Cosmo's - they have a bathhouse thingy, they're well set up for day visitors.

They are pretty far from the action, such as it is, though...if you want to really check out the beach vibe in Negril, turn left at the water and stroll awhile.

Snorkeling isn't great off the beach as the reef is a little way out...you'll mostly see sand and maybe a little seagrass.

Thanks, guys. Cosmo's sounds like a good spot. We weren't looking for the party scene - just a quiet place to chill and enjoy the beach. We've been reading what a great beach Negril has.

If anyone has any other recommendations, we would appreciate it.

You might ask your driver to take you to Bloody Bay...the Office of Nature is a tarp-covered open cooking area where you can get really fresh seafood and enjoy the bay...used to be a really desolate spot, now they are building another resort on the bay (riu and Couples are already there) so it's less so but still nice. No changing/bathing facilities I'm aware of though.

Do get up to the cliffs for sunset/dinner...that's a part of Negril that's very different from other areas of Jamaica and is only a few miles further south/west. Stunning sunsets.

If you don't want the party crowded tourist scene at Rock's, try Xtabi or LTU Pub or Rockhouse.

I'd pick around Charela-right in the middle. See Anthony for a chair set-up and let the party begin!

Irie
Similar question but in terms of what's your favorite AI's in Negril? Plan on only 4-5 nights so nice beach/grounds are probably more important than good food.
