What would you do?
 

In early June; we will be celebrating our 10 yr. anniversary for a 15 day spread between Bonaire, Aruba, and Curaco. We love to scuba dive and enjoy lots of adventure (night life, dining, romantic places, etc). Looking for feedback on where to start the trip, and how much time you well-traveled fodorites would suggest spending at each island. In advance, thank you much!

For Scuba, Bonaire. For nightlife and good food, Aruba. For relaxing beach and good food Curacao. It depends on how much scuba you want to do. I think Bonaire is pretty quiet.
I have been to Aruba and for lots of beach action and nightlife, stay on Palm Beach at the Marriott, Hyatt or Radisson.
In Curacao, the Marriott is always recommended as the favorite hotel with nice grounds and beach area and rooms.
I would spend more time on Aruba and Cuaracao, but I am not a scuba diver! Enjoy!

Was in Bonaire and Aruba in January. In determining the sequence of your travels, I would first take into consideration flight schedules. Can you fly back home straight from Bonaire or Curaco?

We flew into Aruba, had a 4 hour layover, then flew on to Bonaire (with a stop on Curaco to let off and pick up passengers). Going home we were flying out of Aruba so we put Aruba on the 2nd leg of our trip. It was so much easier this way.

However, if you dive at Bonaire first, I think you will find diving in Aruba a let down. If you really love to dive, I would spend almost half my trip on Bonaire. Bonaire does not offer as many good restaurants, etc. as Aruba but it does have several - most are along the harbor.

Be sure to rent a jeep on each island and explore. In Aruba, be sure to go to the Natural Pool.

I always think it's better to start quiet and build up to action -- it helps with the transition to reality. You will probably be flying in and out of Aruba, so start in Curacao, then go Bonaire so you can chill out and then finish up in Aruba. This way you have a bit of contrast between the two busier islands.

Having only been to Aruba, I can't really say which island to do when, but we also have done a 3 island trip. The previous poster has the right idea, at least for me. Last year we did St. Kitts, Nevis and St. Martin which is building up from somewhat busy to very quiet to busy. This year we are doing Nevis (quiet), St. Kitts (somewhat busy w/ casino) and St. Barth (back to quiet). I don't know how I will feel about this structure, but the flights are a big consideration when planning.

I think it depends on how many days you want to spend doing what. Bonaire has some of the best reef diving you've probably ever seen. Mild currents and in June, the general visability wll be good. Good night diving, too. I'm not an Aruba fan. If you are into shopping, there's plenty of major malls. And Aruba does have a nightlife. But for the romance and dining, I would choose Curacao. The food is outstanding. I would recommend Jaanchi's, Astrolab, Bistro Le Clochard, Blues, and Brasserie.
