What to drive in Grand Cayman?

My husband and I are going to Grand Cayman the end of May. We were wondering if we would like a jeep better than a car to get around the island, what do you think?

We rented a car--the roads are fine, and very flat, so you don't "need" a jeep. A jeep is more fun tho'!

Ditto on the post before me. We tried to rent a jeep, but there were none available that day so we settled for a compact car with A/C. We were in GC the first week of June; it was very, very hot. We had arranged to switch to a jeep the second day, as one would be available then, but when we discovered how hot it was, we changed our tune. Yeah, a jeep is more fun and "sporty," but we explored the island in comfort. And, yes, the roads are flat and well-maintainted, so a jeep is not at all necessary.

You don't need a jeep there. Roads are <BR>just fine. That would be another expense and if someone steals the top of the jeep (if canvas) you could be liable for $600++.

Jeep rental is considerably more costly than renting a car. I usually get the smallest, chespest car availabe. Ditto the other comments, it's nice to have the air when it is hot outside. Another consideration - if you spend a lot of time on the beach, it's nice to be out of the sun in a car. I guess I say that because most of the Jeeps I see on the island are topless, though you can put the tops up. But then, its just another car.
