What to do in Puerto Rico?
We are going to San Juan, Puerto Rico the last two weeks in February and wonder what you would suggest is a "don't miss". Any other suggestions in general would be appreciated...re safety...restaurants or just anything good to know.

Where are you staying and will you have a car?
With 2 weeks you have ample time to spend a night or two on Vieques. Take the ferry across and go to the biobay. The beaches are great for snorkeling.
El Yunque is wonderful for hiking.
Luquillo beach is excellent

Rent a car for part of your stay to see the rainforest, Luquillo, etc but you might want to taxi into Old San Juan as parking is difficult and taxis are frequent and reasonable. Do consider Vieques or Culebra.

If you are there for 2 weeks - best thing is to rent a car for a few days at least.
As others have said the following are worth seeing
Old San Juan - plenty to see and do for a day (if no car - taxi rate is fixed from hotel to OSJ)
El Yunque rainforest (45 min drive) get there early then spend the afternoon at Luquillo beach
Consider a day trip to Culebra or Vieques
Head south to Ponce
West to Rincon

Loved walking around Old San Juan, seeing one of the forts (El Morro). I was there too long ago for my restaurant suggestions to be valid (although a couple of wonderful meals were had back then ). Use the search box and I'm sure there are some recent suggestions.

If you like photography OSJ has a lot of great architecture.
Do consider Vieques or Culebra. That said, once you've experienced the beaches on those two islands, you might find the beaches around San Juan to be inferior.
Cheers,

The highlight to my trip was a day trip on "Captain Jack's" catamaran to a secluded off shore beachy island off the northeast coast. I was staying in Isla Verde, which I didn't like, but the ride through the rain forest and to the secluded island were great. I also enjoyed strolling Old San Juan. Seemed pretty safe. If you are staying in Isla Verde plan plenty of day trips.
