What to bring to Couples Ocho Rios?

Hello!! We are going to Couples Ocho Rios in June for our honeymoon. I was wondering what clothes to bring. How dressy are the restaurants? Nice dresses or just sundresses? Pants and collared shirt for the guys? Ties/Jackets? What else other than shorts and swimsuits? Would you need jeans for anything?

Sorry for all the questions . . . any other advice you have to offer would be greatly appreciated!! We're especially interested in all of the "activities" -- horseback riding, off-site excursions, spa, snorkeling, etc.

Thanks!
Cindy

Hi Cindy!!

You will have a great time! We did not stay at couples, but do have some Ocho Rios tips for you....

Make sure you go to Dunn's River Falls right when they open at 8:30am - you will be the only ones on the falls, as opposed to even one hour later when the cruise ship crowd descends!! We did this and had a leisurely climb up the falls with over an hour of private photo opportunities!! Much better than the human chain you see on the web site!!

Also, you will be told that Margaritaville is a great place to go for off site dancing etc. - unless you are going to Jamaica to visit with other tourists, not Jamaicans and you like overpriced American food - don't do it!! There are other more authentic spots that are way more fun!

Congratulations and Happy Honeymooning!

Most resorts are casual dress with the option of a specific restaurant on the premises requiring more formal attire.

Leave the Denim at home. At that time of year in Jamaica, it's an uncomfortable attire.

We were at Couples OR in March. Had a great time! Mostly, you will need your swimsuit and shorts. Some nights I wore a sundress to dinner and others I wore shorts. My husband wore shorts every night! The only restaurant you'll need anything else for is the french restaurant. There, your hubby will need closed toed shoes, collared shirt, jacket and you'll want a nice dress. Other than that, the resort is very casual. I agree with the other poster who said to leave the denim at home. Even in March it was too hot for that. However, if you go horseback riding, you will need a pair of long pants.

We took advantage of all of the off-site excursions and had fun at all of them. We never visited the spa, so I can't comment on that.

I posted a trip report after we got back that might be helpful. If you type "Couples" in the text box and select "Jamaica" then click on "find", you should be able to pull it up. If you can't find it or have any other questions, I'll be happy to answer them.

Hope you have a great trip! I'm already ready to go back!

Did you take a private tour to go to Dunns Falls? Most of the tours seem scheduled around cruise ships arrivals.

thanks
