What are your top recommendations for Grenada?
 

We'll be going to Grenada soon. It's booked and we're in countdown mode now. I wanted to get recommendations from everyone on what we shouldn't miss doing. Give me your top five must sees.

Grenada- I've heard it's awesome! I'm thinking about going there as well- what hotel are you staying at?

We're splitting our time between Coyaba and Calabash. We knew we'd love Grande Anse beach but we couldn't resist trying Calabash. It seems like it's going to be an experience staying there.

Spend the day at La Sagesse. It's simply Paradise on earth.

Dine at Boots Cuisine for some down-home (literally--he serves on the patio in his home) Grenadian cooking at its best.

Splurge for lunch at Spice Island beach resort--the setting and the service are both fantastic!

Hire a taxi and get yourself to Fish Friday in Gouyave.

Hope you have a lovely time in Grenada--it's one of my favorite destinations.

I'll second LaSagesse. It has a nature center, tiny hotel/restaurant on one of the most beautiful unspoiled beaches anywhere. No development to be seen anywhere--looks like the beginning of time.

Thanks for the recommendations. I am looking forward to our day at La Sagesse. It looks like a very peaceful place. Have any of you been to the Friday night Prickly Bay Marina event? I am curious if it's worth checking out.

Grenville is an interesting town, the market is full of spices, bought alot of cinnamon and allspice berries and there is a fish market too. The nutmeg processing plant at Gouvaye is interesting too and you can buy nutmegs in their shells and mace. The interior of Grenada is well worth a visit, around Grand Etang, with hiking trails (some are not easy). St Georges is one of the nicer capital cities of the Caribbean islands and worth taking a walk around it's streets. There are other places to visit eg Grenada Chocolate plant in the north, the area around there is beautiful.

My wife and I will be returning to the Blue Horizon resort for the 3rd time this February.

In addition to the above suggestions I would recommend a snorkeling trip to the underwater sculpture park and lunch(prepared by the local ladies) at the university campus on Grande Anse.

The Grenada Chocolate Factory is now closed to the public, but I do recommend touring Belmont Plantation, which is up north in da country. You can try your hand at "walking the beans", which is part of the cocoa processing. They'll give you a tour of the old house and you can watch a video of the chocolate making process--it's very interesting! Afterwards, you can sample some of the chocolate and try some cocoa tea, then have lunch at the restaurant on site. It's a pretty place.

One of my favorite shops sells batik clothing made in Grenada. Very good quality -- I have several pieces. It's on one of the interesting streets in St. Georges.

The Aquarium restaurant Pina Colada! Swim on the beach, have some food, and def 2 or 3 pina coladas!

We'd like to try Aquarium for dinner. I read that Aquarium has a big Sunday barbeque but I don't know if we want to go there that day. I read that it gets crowded. Have you been to the Sunday barbeque there and it is a must see?

There is so much to see and do - here are my top 5:-
1/ Grand Etang Rainforest & Lake (Annandale Waterfalls en route)
2/ Underwater Sculpture Park
3/ Belmont Estate - for a great 'spice experience'
4/ Fish Friday
5/ Grand Anse Beach

We didnt go for the barbecue, just hung out two days. The food was wonderful. The beach is good there and the snorkeling is pretty good once you get out 30-50 feet from shore.

We stayed at Coyaba by the way and the food and service was very very good! Have a great time.

I just got back from 10 days in Grenada. must sees IMHO are Concord falls and Belmont Estates.

We stayed at the Calabash last year & the food is wonderful & lovely having your breakfast brought to you on your terrace every morning!

I'm personally not a fan of beach buffet BBQs, so we've always avoided the Aquarium on Sundays. I know just as many people who have gone that day and loved it as gone that day and had an awful experience. I think it probably depends on your personal preferences.

Hi. We're back from Grenada and we had a great time. We ended up not going to Aquarium. I'm really not a buffet person or a fan of crowds so we decided to pass on it. I have to start working on my trip report soon but I'm still getting everything put away. We took a lot of your recommendations and really enjoyed our vacation.
